"Also, I initially thought that they wouldn't go tight enough, but after some extended periods of running, I concluded that this was not the case, and my shoes really were on securely, with no loosening.""My recommendation is to initially err on the too-long side, wearing the shoes that way for a couple of days and putting up with the flopping ends, until the lacing-and-shoes system is "broken in" and you can tell exactly how much slack you need in the laces to be able to put the shoes on and take them off with ease."
"The only thing we HAVEN'T liked (hence the 4 star rating) is that every once in awhile, the little caps that go over the ends of the laces come off and since the ends get frayed over time, they have to be trimmed before they can be re-inserted through the caps and closed back in."
"I'd recommend that before you trim the Lace Lock laces, you wear your chosen footwear with the laces cinched for a half hour or so, to be sure you've got the right tension and that you've left enough extra length in the bungee laces to don and doff the shoes comfortably."
"I am one of those people that hate having my shoe laces get untied so this is a perfect solution."
"They work really well for kids and helps them get their shoes on quickly which many parents know is a huge feat!"
"When I'm done wearing the shoes, I can easily use one foot to hold the other foot's shoe at the back and ease my foot out."

"But I have found my laces coming untied on more than a few occasions, during races, and I hate that feeling that I laced them too tight or too loose when I just want to GO... Also, I initially thought that they wouldn't go tight enough, but after some extended periods of running, I concluded that this was not the case, and my shoes really were on securely, with no loosening... After a few weeks, I absentmindedly pulled too hard on one of the locks when I was taking my shoes off, and the little end clip broke, but LOCK LACES replaced it for free, garnering a full five-star rating.""But cut off too much and the shoes will be overly tight (ouch), and you might not even be able to get them on without using a shoehorn. My recommendation is to initially err on the too-long side, wearing the shoes that way for a couple of days and putting up with the flopping ends, until the lacing-and-shoes system is "broken in" and you can tell exactly how much slack you need in the laces to be able to put the shoes on and take them off with ease... Note that the end-caps can be removed and then re-applied once they're snapped on, but getting them off isn't easy (or if it is, I don't know what the trick is)."
"The kids get their shoes on QUICKLY by themselves and I'm saved from the frustration of constantly unknotting their laces when they don't get tied properly and from re-tying laces a dozen times before we even make it to the bus stop!... 3) They were easy to lace into the shoes and cut to length and I've never had any difficulties with the locking mechanism on any of the sets I've gotten (contrary to some reviews I've read). The only thing we HAVEN'T liked (hence the 4 star rating) is that every once in awhile, the little caps that go over the ends of the laces come off and since the ends get frayed over time, they have to be trimmed before they can be re-inserted through the caps and closed back in."
"The Lock Laces were easy to install on both pairs of shoes within a couple of minutes and they work very well... You could leave the tab off entirely and just tie the loose ends together (and maybe melt the ends of the nylon bungee with a lighter to prevent fraying)... I'd recommend that before you trim the Lace Lock laces, you wear your chosen footwear with the laces cinched for a half hour or so, to be sure you've got the right tension and that you've left enough extra length in the bungee laces to don and doff the shoes comfortably."
"I am one of those people that hate having my shoe laces get untied so this is a perfect solution. I can go run with my dogs and not worry about tripping on my laces. I thought that would be the best part but having my shoe feel more comfortable is a bonus too."
"They work really well for kids and helps them get their shoes on quickly which many parents know is a huge feat!... I'm not sure if they should withstand him doing that or if he needs to be pulling on the laces another way. That said, he just got some new shoes and I am ordering another pair in a different color."
"I do need to use my hands to get my shoes on, but once I pull them on my feet, I do a quick adjustment of the tongue of each shoe, and I'm good to go. When I'm done wearing the shoes, I can easily use one foot to hold the other foot's shoe at the back and ease my foot out... Must be the elasticity of the Lock Laces which allow them to fit your foot very comfortably."

"But I have found my laces coming untied on more than a few occasions, during races, and I hate that feeling that I laced them too tight or too loose when I just want to GO... Also, I initially thought that they wouldn't go tight enough, but after some extended periods of running, I concluded that this was not the case, and my shoes really were on securely, with no loosening. I suspect there are some purists out there who want TOTAL CONTROL over their shoe tightening, and are very particular about things like this... After a few weeks, I absentmindedly pulled too hard on one of the locks when I was taking my shoes off, and the little end clip broke, but LOCK LACES replaced it for free, garnering a full five-star rating... Leave three inches hanging after the shoes fit to your liking, and then cut and put the end clips on... Any more than that and the lace end will flap around when you run. Still, this is easily solved by simply tucking the end under another lace, which I always do.""The challenge is in cutting the right length off the ends of the laces just before 'sealing' the ends with the included snap-on plastic caps. Leave too much on and the excess length of laces flops around distractingly (and a bit noisily) when you walk and may even be a trip-over-your-shoelaces threat. But cut off too much and the shoes will be overly tight (ouch), and you might not even be able to get them on without using a shoehorn. My recommendation is to initially err on the too-long side, wearing the shoes that way for a couple of days and putting up with the flopping ends, until the lacing-and-shoes system is "broken in" and you can tell exactly how much slack you need in the laces to be able to put the shoes on and take them off with ease... (Remember: you can always cut more off, but you can't put any back on if you cut too short. ) You may want to buy two sets of Lock Laces the first time, so if you inadvertently cut the first pair too short you'll have a replacement pair handy. Note that the end-caps can be removed and then re-applied once they're snapped on, but getting them off isn't easy (or if it is, I don't know what the trick is)."
"We've ordered several pairs of these over the past couple of years and I'm about to purchase 2 more sets for my sons' new school shoes... The kids get their shoes on QUICKLY by themselves and I'm saved from the frustration of constantly unknotting their laces when they don't get tied properly and from re-tying laces a dozen times before we even make it to the bus stop! 2) Bright colors are really "in" lately and my boys' shoes have been all sorts of crazy colors but there's always a set of laces to match! 3) They were easy to lace into the shoes and cut to length and I've never had any difficulties with the locking mechanism on any of the sets I've gotten (contrary to some reviews I've read). The only thing we HAVEN'T liked (hence the 4 star rating) is that every once in awhile, the little caps that go over the ends of the laces come off and since the ends get frayed over time, they have to be trimmed before they can be re-inserted through the caps and closed back in... I trimmed them a little longer last time and they almost made it through the summer this time! Overall, great product for kids (or anyone who needs some independence but isn't able to tie their own shoes)."
"I ordered two pairs-- one for a pair of New Balance running shoes and the other for a pair of Merrill hiking boots. The Lock Laces were easy to install on both pairs of shoes within a couple of minutes and they work very well... At the same time, the laces hold the shoes firmly on my feet even with vigorous activity, and the locking mechanism seems to hold without any slippage... You could leave the tab off entirely and just tie the loose ends together (and maybe melt the ends of the nylon bungee with a lighter to prevent fraying)... I'd recommend that before you trim the Lace Lock laces, you wear your chosen footwear with the laces cinched for a half hour or so, to be sure you've got the right tension and that you've left enough extra length in the bungee laces to don and doff the shoes comfortably. Also, if you're using these on hiking boots or shoes with lace hooks instead of eyelets, be sure you have enough length in the laces to loop them over the hooks. Remember that once you cut the laces, you can't make them any longer!"
"I have been wanting to try them for a while but kept putting it off... I bought three pairs of them in different colors... I love that they are an elastic type lace as they are so comfortable on the tops of my feet. The lock laces themselves are easy to install on the shoes... I am one of those people that hate having my shoe laces get untied so this is a perfect solution. I can go run with my dogs and not worry about tripping on my laces. I thought that would be the best part but having my shoe feel more comfortable is a bonus too."
"They work really well for kids and helps them get their shoes on quickly which many parents know is a huge feat!... If they were I wouldn't hesitate about buying them again... My son pulls on the plastic tip/end cap to tighten the laces and the end cap comes off. If we still have it, we reclose it over the laces but the last time it happened, he lost the plastic piece. I'm not sure if they should withstand him doing that or if he needs to be pulling on the laces another way. That said, he just got some new shoes and I am ordering another pair in a different color. I'm not happy with the durability but for the ease of installation and the speed of getting his shoes on in the a."
"I don't know if both sets (ordered several months apart) came from the same vendor, but I did order from Amazon both times. Once put on, Lock Laces allow me to NOT have to tie regular shoe laces anymore... I do need to use my hands to get my shoes on, but once I pull them on my feet, I do a quick adjustment of the tongue of each shoe, and I'm good to go. When I'm done wearing the shoes, I can easily use one foot to hold the other foot's shoe at the back and ease my foot out... Mostly just the tying of the laces, but that's enough for me... There are many colors to choose from, so you can match or contrast just about any color shoe out there... Must be the elasticity of the Lock Laces which allow them to fit your foot very comfortably."
