"Other sprayers I've used have a thick ridge right below the nozzle so that you can feel where your index finger is in relation to the nozzle, and move it if need be.""After moving to the city from the 'burbs, I wanted to get my wife something that was small enough to keep on her keys but powerful enough to keep her safe if (God forbid) she was in a situation where she needed to defend herself!"
"I bought this entirely to fend off loose dogs and other animals while I walk on back roads in the night, and the only reason why I still carry one of these on me is that I have a little bit of (probably false) hope that it will have a more deterrent effect on an animal with a much more acute sense of smell than me."
"I point this out as constructive criticism with hope that the creator will add this feature that wouldn't cost them any money the next time they do an update/change of the design of the plastic mold, since at this point I intend to buy from this company again since I'm pleased with the product."
"UPDATE: This product's safety slide has moved to the "spray" position and discharged 3 or 4 times while in my pocket, usually when wearing slightly tight jeans, which of course burns your thigh."
"The quick release keychain doesn't like to release all that quickly, in fact if you don't have long fingernails in order to poke deep inside the groove where the latch is, you may find yourself entirely unable to get the thing free."
"Oh, it's in my hand and pointed already" However because of having to re-position my thumb to spray it, I suggest you get two and practice actually spraying one of them."

"It makes a large key-fob, but you're likely to have your keys close at hand while you're out and about, so the spray will be as well... The minor one was that the quick-release buckle on the key ring was faulty, and wouldn't stay together at all... Other sprayers I've used have a thick ridge right below the nozzle so that you can feel where your index finger is in relation to the nozzle, and move it if need be.""After moving to the city from the 'burbs, I wanted to get my wife something that was small enough to keep on her keys but powerful enough to keep her safe if (God forbid) she was in a situation where she needed to defend herself!... The safety mechanism was something that I very closely inspected - I would never forgive myself if my wife accidentally got a face-full of this stuff... Luckily we haven't needed to use this item yet, however I will be taking it out soon to test it and will update with results."
"To test these out, I shook and then sprayed each one at a paper towel before then holding the paper towel directly under my nose (about half an inch away). Only after taking a strong inhale did I notice anything more than a strange smell, but definitely nothing that would stop me if I was attacking you... I bought this entirely to fend off loose dogs and other animals while I walk on back roads in the night, and the only reason why I still carry one of these on me is that I have a little bit of (probably false) hope that it will have a more deterrent effect on an animal with a much more acute sense of smell than me."
"CON: -I would like for the safety feature to be a little more certain, as I once took it out of my pocket and found the trigger had moved out of the safety position and so was one press away from spraying in my pocket... I mean to say, that it's being a perfect round cylinder, when I grip it in my hand with thumb on trigger, I have no feel-Mark (like the little bump you feel on the f key on a keyboard) under my hand to visualize where the spray hole is... I point this out as constructive criticism with hope that the creator will add this feature that wouldn't cost them any money the next time they do an update/change of the design of the plastic mold, since at this point I intend to buy from this company again since I'm pleased with the product."
"UPDATE: This product's safety slide has moved to the "spray" position and discharged 3 or 4 times while in my pocket, usually when wearing slightly tight jeans, which of course burns your thigh... This is a great product because it is easily concealed in your hand (it just fits the width of an average hand so people can not see exactly what is in your hand)... I like the fact that they don't "look" like your traditional pepper spray containers (it's like a black cylinder rounded at the ends)."
"The quick release keychain doesn't like to release all that quickly, in fact if you don't have long fingernails in order to poke deep inside the groove where the latch is, you may find yourself entirely unable to get the thing free... I eventually replaced this with something else closer to what I prefer, but it served me for about a year, where I thankfully never needed to use it... Still it's better than nothing, but whoever designed the canister and carrying method needs to rethink it from the perspective of someone who might actually have to use it."
"I will say that I had to press down twice to get it to spray because after sliding the safety off, my thumb wasn't in a position to apply enough pressure to spray (close to the edge of the button)... Oh, it's in my hand and pointed already" However because of having to re-position my thumb to spray it, I suggest you get two and practice actually spraying one of them... I've been attacked before by a dog and had a few close calls by very large powerful dogs that would have had no problem killing me, once when I was taking care of a handicapped child."

"I bought this because I needed a can of pepper spray, and this unit was inexpensive and from a reputable manufacturer to boot... The nozzle has to be rotated with your thumb to turn the safety off, but is very smooth and can be done in the blink of an eye... There's also a key ring with a quick-release so you can attach it to your keys, of need be. It makes a large key-fob, but you're likely to have your keys close at hand while you're out and about, so the spray will be as well... The minor one was that the quick-release buckle on the key ring was faulty, and wouldn't stay together at all... Other sprayers I've used have a thick ridge right below the nozzle so that you can feel where your index finger is in relation to the nozzle, and move it if need be... I haven't actually had to use this yet, so I can't comment on how effective the spray itself is.""After moving to the city from the 'burbs, I wanted to get my wife something that was small enough to keep on her keys but powerful enough to keep her safe if (God forbid) she was in a situation where she needed to defend herself!... The safety mechanism was something that I very closely inspected - I would never forgive myself if my wife accidentally got a face-full of this stuff... On that note, I was extremely happy of how easy the safety came off when you needed it to... even in a life-threatening situation, I believe that shaky hands would have no problem getting this ready to fire. Luckily we haven't needed to use this item yet, however I will be taking it out soon to test it and will update with results... OVERALL Overall I feel much safer with my wife having this with her at all times... I got a little whiff of it even though I was upwind from it, and I felt like I was in a chili pepper processing plant or something like that!"
"I've yet to come into a situation where I needed them and I only bought the second one because the rave reviews misled me again (and I was hoping my first one was just a dud). To test these out, I shook and then sprayed each one at a paper towel before then holding the paper towel directly under my nose (about half an inch away). Only after taking a strong inhale did I notice anything more than a strange smell, but definitely nothing that would stop me if I was attacking you. I haven't had the guts to spray this directly onto my eyeballs and that is the only reason why I can't say for certain if this works or not. But I wouldn't count on this to mess up anybody's nasal passages, unless I'm somehow immune to it (though I can smell everything else in this world just fine). I bought this entirely to fend off loose dogs and other animals while I walk on back roads in the night, and the only reason why I still carry one of these on me is that I have a little bit of (probably false) hope that it will have a more deterrent effect on an animal with a much more acute sense of smell than me. I don't know if I would have good enough aim to actually hit a moving dog's eyes with this in the dark."
"Firstly; I haven't had to use it, so I can't yet review it's primary function... -the triggers safety feature gives some peace of mind re worries of accidental spraying... -the key chain is sturdy, and has a nice quick release button on it... I don't know if it is Amazon or the seller that I am to thank for that, but once again, awesome. CON: -I would like for the safety feature to be a little more certain, as I once took it out of my pocket and found the trigger had moved out of the safety position and so was one press away from spraying in my pocket... I mean to say, that it's being a perfect round cylinder, when I grip it in my hand with thumb on trigger, I have no feel-Mark (like the little bump you feel on the f key on a keyboard) under my hand to visualize where the spray hole is... "UPDATE: This product's safety slide has moved to the "spray" position and discharged 3 or 4 times while in my pocket, usually when wearing slightly tight jeans, which of course burns your thigh... This is a great product because it is easily concealed in your hand (it just fits the width of an average hand so people can not see exactly what is in your hand). If it is used by the Police you know it has gone through very thorough testing to be selected as the brand that Police carry, which is a comforting thought. Having 25 bursts is a great thing knowing at about 5 bursts per attacker you can handle roughly up to 5 attackers before running away to safety. I tested this out on a target "head" at about 11 feet away... It will either spray as a "continuous stream" if you hold the button down, or you can spray in "bursts" if you press down the button then release... I like the fact that they don't "look" like your traditional pepper spray containers (it's like a black cylinder rounded at the ends)."
"I am a security guard so I have to carry pepper spray (and would do so anyway), and Sabre is a reputable brand. I however really would rather have had a flip top safety than the twist safety. The quick release keychain doesn't like to release all that quickly, in fact if you don't have long fingernails in order to poke deep inside the groove where the latch is, you may find yourself entirely unable to get the thing free... I'd suggest doing away with the key ring and putting it in your pocket, or swapping the release connector for velcro. I eventually replaced this with something else closer to what I prefer, but it served me for about a year, where I thankfully never needed to use it... If you just want something for self defense, it's fine, but test out methods of quickly drawing it before relying upon it. Still it's better than nothing, but whoever designed the canister and carrying method needs to rethink it from the perspective of someone who might actually have to use it."
"I'm not sure if that's because of the spray or because I was behind glass. I hear pepper spray is better with dogs than mace is... I will say that I had to press down twice to get it to spray because after sliding the safety off, my thumb wasn't in a position to apply enough pressure to spray (close to the edge of the button)... When the event happened, I had the spray out of my pocket, safety off, before I even realized it... Oh, it's in my hand and pointed already" However because of having to re-position my thumb to spray it, I suggest you get two and practice actually spraying one of them. Obviously take proper precaution, maybe wear chemical goggles and make sure the wind is blowing from behind you. I've been attacked before by a dog and had a few close calls by very large powerful dogs that would have had no problem killing me, once when I was taking care of a handicapped child."
