AmazonBasics Cat Litter Pads, 40-Count

Very Quick

"I know in amazon s description it says the pad should be changed every 2-3 days, but if thats really the case I m not sure how it ends up being more cost effective than the tidy cat version."

"Had to do this because I found a puddle of urine there that must have drained through the pellets when I was changing the urine pan probably too soon after a cat had used the box."

"But these pads require changing every 3 days - day 4 had me draining pee out of the tray before I could even take the pad out, and the pad was in WAY worse shape than day six on the name brand."

"But when I changed out the pads a second time and saw moisture on the tray, something I never saw with the OEM product over several years, I knew it was the pads."

"These pads have NO odor control at all; and, more often than not, these pads fall apart when changing them, making a bigger mess than just using a regular cat litter box with litter."

"Either I got a bad batch of these (which I find very unlikely) or the people that like these are changing them after every time thier cat uses them and ties them up in a bag."

"work as well or better than the ones that came with it - and I can go at least 2 days before changing them (I have 2 cats)."

"It may be the number of layers in the pad, but I can REALLY smell the urine even after one or two uses by my cat, whereas with the Tidycat brand I never smell the urine, even after 1 week of constant use... I know people have said they ve sprinkled baking powder on the pad to help with smell, but I don t have to do that with the tidycat pets to prevent odor, which makes these pads subpar to me... I know in amazon s description it says the pad should be changed every 2-3 days, but if thats really the case I m not sure how it ends up being more cost effective than the tidy cat version."

"I make sure I put the shortest side of the liner during the daytime when my cats use the box less and turn to the longer side of the liner for overnight collection... Previous review: These pads are no different than the Tidy Cats Breeze pads except one side of the plastic liner is longer than the other... Had to do this because I found a puddle of urine there that must have drained through the pellets when I was changing the urine pan probably too soon after a cat had used the box."

"If, like me, you use the Breeze system because your cat has a medical condition that means a lot of urine, be aware that these definitely don't hold nearly as much... But these pads require changing every 3 days - day 4 had me draining pee out of the tray before I could even take the pad out, and the pad was in WAY worse shape than day six on the name brand... so weigh the slight (Less than $1 per month) savings against how much you care about a little pee odor before it's time to change the pad!"

"The first time I had just washed out the box and put in new litter and pads, so I thought maybe there was some residual dampness under the pad from that. But when I changed out the pads a second time and saw moisture on the tray, something I never saw with the OEM product over several years, I knew it was the pads... Which is too bad because I thought Amazon might have nailed it with an equivalent product at a substantially lower price but no, that's not the case."

"These pads have NO odor control at all; and, more often than not, these pads fall apart when changing them, making a bigger mess than just using a regular cat litter box with litter... It makes the pads seem thick; but without the gel, the urine soaks through immediately, quickly overwhelming the pad and making me have to deal with unabsorbed, stinky urine, and stinky, wet, pad filling... I have attached pics of a pad that hasn't even been used yet; and it is already coming apart, because they are not sealed correctly."

"I usually chalk this up to some people just like to complain and you just can't make them happy no matter what or maybe they are from a competitor... Either I got a bad batch of these (which I find very unlikely) or the people that like these are changing them after every time thier cat uses them and ties them up in a bag... Since getting these alternative pads there has been an overpowering ammonia smell, I started covering the can and when I removed the lid the smell literally took my breath away."

"work as well or better than the ones that came with it - and I can go at least 2 days before changing them (I have 2 cats)... The system is so much nicer than the clumping kind that all in all I love it - I think it isn't too costly considering how long the pellets last and that these are fairly cheap. (And yes, my cats took at least a week to switch over the the new litter box - I kept the old one without changing it as suggested - but they switched and seem fine with it now."

Less Quick

"It may be the number of layers in the pad, but I can REALLY smell the urine even after one or two uses by my cat, whereas with the Tidycat brand I never smell the urine, even after 1 week of constant use. That has been a real problem for me with the amazon version since I keep my litter box in the bathroom and as soon as I enter I get a strong whiff of urine... I know people have said they ve sprinkled baking powder on the pad to help with smell, but I don t have to do that with the tidycat pets to prevent odor, which makes these pads subpar to me... , if you run out of the originals and have to wait 2-3 days for a reorder to arrive), or is traveling and you don t want to have to open a four pack up (which always annoyed me, haha) but I wouldn t use these as my main pad. I know in amazon s description it says the pad should be changed every 2-3 days, but if thats really the case I m not sure how it ends up being more cost effective than the tidy cat version... I have one cat and only need to change the pee pad once a week and the overall litter once a month. With the amazon version, to prevent smells, I would have to change these pads every 2 or so days, which is a hassle, and I feel like would mean I d be running through these pads like crazy!"

"I make sure I put the shortest side of the liner during the daytime when my cats use the box less and turn to the longer side of the liner for overnight collection... Previous review: These pads are no different than the Tidy Cats Breeze pads except one side of the plastic liner is longer than the other. I couldn't understand why these pads were leaking until just now, the side that was the overnight side leaked. (I have to change pads daily (even with turning them) I have 2 aging cats with over active bladders & kidney issues). Today I put the shorter plastic liner down for daytime then before I go to bed I'll put the longer plastic side down and see how that works overnight... I shake baking soda over the pellets and it falls onto the pad and helps keep the odor level down but not enough for me... Had to do this because I found a puddle of urine there that must have drained through the pellets when I was changing the urine pan probably too soon after a cat had used the box."

"If, like me, you use the Breeze system because your cat has a medical condition that means a lot of urine, be aware that these definitely don't hold nearly as much. ~6 days with the name brand put us right at that "as full as it can get but not yet overfull" point. But these pads require changing every 3 days - day 4 had me draining pee out of the tray before I could even take the pad out, and the pad was in WAY worse shape than day six on the name brand. I'm trying to decide whether I'll purchase more of these when I run out - despite what I said above, it could still go either way. Yes, these pads have to be changed twice as often as the Tidy Cats pads..... The other thing to take note of is that, while not a huge difference, these pads aren't as good on odor control either... so weigh the slight (Less than $1 per month) savings against how much you care about a little pee odor before it's time to change the pad!"

"* 05/31/18 Update: FINALLY used the last of these and switched back to the Breeze pads - these are truly horrible. Absolutely NO odor control and I replaced them every few days in two boxes. You're not saving money if you buy a product that doesn't deliver and these DO NOT deliver... The first time I had just washed out the box and put in new litter and pads, so I thought maybe there was some residual dampness under the pad from that. But when I changed out the pads a second time and saw moisture on the tray, something I never saw with the OEM product over several years, I knew it was the pads... I won't return the balance of the order but will change the pads frequently until they're gone and go back to the OEM for sure.

I had to change them every 2 days. By 3 days, they stunk to high heaven, and would soak through the outer lining, leaking into the pad drawer... I am changing them twice as often as the Ultra Absorbs; so I am doing twice the work with way more mess at the same price as the better UAs, which also control the odor much better... I have attached pics of a pad that hasn't even been used yet; and it is already coming apart, because they are not sealed correctly. The mess, the stink and the extra work make these pads create make them nowhere near worthwhile or money saving."

"I always read the reviews before buying new products on Amazon and there were a few bad reviews but overall the ratings are very good. I usually chalk this up to some people just like to complain and you just can't make them happy no matter what or maybe they are from a competitor... Either I got a bad batch of these (which I find very unlikely) or the people that like these are changing them after every time thier cat uses them and ties them up in a bag. I have a garbage can in my garage and have always thrown the original breeze pads in there with no cover on the can and no issue. Since getting these alternative pads there has been an overpowering ammonia smell, I started covering the can and when I removed the lid the smell literally took my breath away. I'm always looking for ways to save a few bucks but I just can't overstate how horrible these smell. I feel like a one star rating might be a little harsh as they do fit the tray and they are much cheaper but I just can't stomach the smell."

"I got the Purina Tidy Cats Breeze system after reading a zillion (ish) reviews here. Because money was tight, once I got my cats using it I switched to wood pellets... Then I discovered I could buy the actual pellets in bulk here pretty cheaply (also I have gone more than a month on a bag!... I also had to change them every day and a lot of the times they leaked... work as well or better than the ones that came with it - and I can go at least 2 days before changing them (I have 2 cats)...
