Zuke s Mini Naturals Dog Treats, Roasted Chicken Recipe, 16-Ounce

Very Quick

"I feel much more comfortable feeding these to my pups than other common brands, but with recent news of super-premium brands with no recall history having to recall products (which they only do after significant numbers of illness and death are reported), I really think that human-grade dog treats are just so much safer."

"My puppy loves them just as much as the others (it's impossible to tell if he loved one more than the other) , and I like them too because they're healthy, made in the USA, and extremely well-reviewed on Amazon."

"I also like these crunchy (mini) peanut butter bones from Old Mother Hubbard (just about the size of a quarter and also easily broken in half) but the other kinds we've tried have been too big and a pain to divide, or not tasty enough."

"5 calories per treat - cut into FOURTHS - I am happy to give them as many as they need during training sessions without worrying too much about feeding them too many treats and spoiling their mealtime!"

"These treats are really moist when fresh, so much so that I am even tempted to try the peanut butter one (although I don't)."

"Active, willful and prone to talking back/barking in that piercing way that makes your ears want to bleed, she runs straight into hiding under the bed the moment I get ready to take a shower - knowing I'll soon go out and will crate her beforehand."

"Strong tempting smell makes this a "high-reward" treat, even with its tiny size, which is important for dogs who do their tricks great at home but can't focus on you outside where there are distractions."

"I'm not trying to be dramatic, but after seeing the DOZENS of recalls on pet food and treats over the past few years, my wife and I decided (with the help of a top Amazon reviewer, Chandler) to get informed about meat quality... That said, knowing what I know about the "standards" of non human-grade meats (and the animals they come from) that are used in dog treats (regardless of the manner in which they are handled) I simply cannot rate this at the full five stars. I feel much more comfortable feeding these to my pups than other common brands, but with recent news of super-premium brands with no recall history having to recall products (which they only do after significant numbers of illness and death are reported), I really think that human-grade dog treats are just so much safer."

"My puppy loves them just as much as the others (it's impossible to tell if he loved one more than the other) , and I like them too because they're healthy, made in the USA, and extremely well-reviewed on Amazon... Not in a delicious, I want to eat a handful way, but more of a wow - these really are substantial and delicious treats for my dog, not some weird synthetic junk mashed together in a factory overseas... I should add that I also mix in Wellness Just for Puppy Treats and Old Mother Hubbard Puppy Classic Crunchy Biscuits with Zuke's minis, mainly because the former two are tailored just to puppies, and also for the sake of variety."

"and then having them as a bonafide grown-up for the past 14 years, have had spoiled little chihuahuas (who we loved dearly but fell into the bad-owner category of thinking they were just too cute to ever bother properly training)... They're tiny, about the size of a pencil eraser or a little smaller, so I don't have to worry about our pup eating too many and getting full or feeling sick, thus effectively shortening training time... I also like these crunchy (mini) peanut butter bones from Old Mother Hubbard (just about the size of a quarter and also easily broken in half) but the other kinds we've tried have been too big and a pain to divide, or not tasty enough."

"The only reason we didn't try the peanut-butter flavored ones is because they already get peanut butter in their kongs as a treat, so we used salmon and chicken as a "variety... 5 calories per treat - cut into FOURTHS - I am happy to give them as many as they need during training sessions without worrying too much about feeding them too many treats and spoiling their mealtime!... They are quite odorous (which is probably why the dogs love them so much) - so it maybe takes some time to get used to the first few times you are digging into the treat bag."

"Even after breaking the treats into smaller pieces, my puppy still loved them!... These treats are really moist when fresh, so much so that I am even tempted to try the peanut butter one (although I don't). These dry out pretty quickly though so make sure to keep the bag sealed and tightly closed."

"But Zuke's Mini Naturals Dog Treats (Roasted Chicken Recipe) have definitely and fairly quickly train her to be more submissive and to behaved in a more disciplined way than she might decide to if left to her own devices... Active, willful and prone to talking back/barking in that piercing way that makes your ears want to bleed, she runs straight into hiding under the bed the moment I get ready to take a shower - knowing I'll soon go out and will crate her beforehand... Now, I have to confess that she gave her a more liberal amount (for not even doing anything) than I ever would - but, she did have Ava's attention and the incident proved (to me) that w/the right motivation Ava's less-than-desirable behaviors could be curbed."

"The price on Amazon is really good for how many treats you're getting in a bag... Strong tempting smell makes this a "high-reward" treat, even with its tiny size, which is important for dogs who do their tricks great at home but can't focus on you outside where there are distractions... They are chewed and swallowed quickly so you can do quick series of commands without worrying about your dog choking or being too distracted by chewing and crunching to listen to you."

"Because in our household, "good" quality and "best" quality are two very different things, and in the (sometimes) murky world of meat grading the difference can actually mean health or illness and even life or death. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but after seeing the DOZENS of recalls on pet food and treats over the past few years, my wife and I decided (with the help of a top Amazon reviewer, Chandler) to get informed about meat quality... -------------------------------------------- Listen, I was very satisfied with Zuke's customer service, and their responses lead me to believe that they are absolutely above-standard when it comes to dog treats. That said, knowing what I know about the "standards" of non human-grade meats (and the animals they come from) that are used in dog treats (regardless of the manner in which they are handled) I simply cannot rate this at the full five stars. I feel much more comfortable feeding these to my pups than other common brands, but with recent news of super-premium brands with no recall history having to recall products (which they only do after significant numbers of illness and death are reported), I really think that human-grade dog treats are just so much safer. I'm not going to plug other brands here, but if you are looking for recommendations please don't hesitate to contact me - my email is on my profile (click on my name to get there)... That said, if you want the absolute best treats for your pup don't have the time or resources to make your own, I highly suggest researching companies that use human-grade meat."

"My puppy loves them just as much as the others (it's impossible to tell if he loved one more than the other) , and I like them too because they're healthy, made in the USA, and extremely well-reviewed on Amazon. Although some people here complained about the "powerful" smell in their reviews, I actually love it because it's the aroma of natural, healthy ingredients and it makes my puppy go bonkers... Not in a delicious, I want to eat a handful way, but more of a wow - these really are substantial and delicious treats for my dog, not some weird synthetic junk mashed together in a factory overseas... And given the convenient, easily resealable package that Zuke's come in, I fail to see how they're getting hardened after being left out is truly a flaw with the product. Even when they're slightly hard my puppy still loves them, and the fact that they take him longer to chew is probably a good thing!... I now plan to continue ordering them as my puppy's primary treat for the rest of his life, while experimenting with other flavors besides roasted chicken. I should add that I also mix in Wellness Just for Puppy Treats and Old Mother Hubbard Puppy Classic Crunchy Biscuits with Zuke's minis, mainly because the former two are tailored just to puppies, and also for the sake of variety."

"and then having them as a bonafide grown-up for the past 14 years, have had spoiled little chihuahuas (who we loved dearly but fell into the bad-owner category of thinking they were just too cute to ever bother properly training). Well the final chi passed a year and a half ago and we have human children now so it was time for a bigger dog this time around, and I want to train her well... They're tiny, about the size of a pencil eraser or a little smaller, so I don't have to worry about our pup eating too many and getting full or feeling sick, thus effectively shortening training time. She's only 10 weeks old so I don't want to fill her little belly totally full with treats during training time. I do even sometimes use my thumbnails to break them in half if I know we are really going to be at it a while and they are easy to break neatly... I've already come back for more-- so far she's enjoyed equally the chicken, salmon and duck flavored ones.

Even after cutting them into fourths, my yorkie and puppy still have to chew a little. So it's actually a little necessary for us to cut them or else we have to wait too long for them to chew it and swallow before continuing with the training session. So cutting it makes it a better bite-sized morsel that makes them happy but quick to gobble up. I'm sure once our puppy gets bigger we will only cut into halves and then not at all later... They are quite odorous (which is probably why the dogs love them so much) - so it maybe takes some time to get used to the first few times you are digging into the treat bag."

"You can tell right when you open the bag that the smell is potent... My puppy is really picky with her food but she never turned down these treats... I didn't know any better so I gave her one whole treat every time I treated her... Even after breaking the treats into smaller pieces, my puppy still loved them!... I was concerned about whether my puppy would like that flavor as much as chicken...

5 years old, with what seems to be another [sigh] 6-9 months of disciplining to go B4 she really "gets" it, she's a 20 lb... Active, willful and prone to talking back/barking in that piercing way that makes your ears want to bleed, she runs straight into hiding under the bed the moment I get ready to take a shower - knowing I'll soon go out and will crate her beforehand. She's agile, curious and nibbly enough for me to not be able to confidently leave her out loose when I'm not here (whihc isn't often, since I work from home)... Now, I have to confess that she gave her a more liberal amount (for not even doing anything) than I ever would - but, she did have Ava's attention and the incident proved (to me) that w/the right motivation Ava's less-than-desirable behaviors could be curbed. Since then, I've picked up my own bag of Zuke's treats and have made them a reward for Ava getting "in her house" (crate) on command... They're aromatic, soft, chewy - and the quantity is generous enough to last a while."

"The price on Amazon is really good for how many treats you're getting in a bag. Decent ingredients, chicken is listed as the first ingredient and no corn/soy (which can cause cancer over time)! Keep in mind these are not grain free, although the grains used are generally fine for dogs who are not allergic and do not have cancer. Strong tempting smell makes this a "high-reward" treat, even with its tiny size, which is important for dogs who do their tricks great at home but can't focus on you outside where there are distractions. Small size makes them easy to slip a few into your pocket (no matter how tight and tiny your pockets are!... Even when I cut up a piece in halves or quarters, this is still considered a high-value treat to my 75 lb dog. They are chewed and swallowed quickly so you can do quick series of commands without worrying about your dog choking or being too distracted by chewing and crunching to listen to you."
