"The top opens up to reveal a hole about the circumference of a nickel, which gives you plenty of water without a lot of spills, makes refilling from a sink or fountain easier, and makes cleaning a breeze compared to the old style water bottles with pull tops w/ dinky holes to drink from, or straws.""The bottle does have a notice that says they are approximate values, so they may not be 100% accurate, but I'm not too worried about it."
"*Note: if you're A messy dribbler that can't drink from a cup without soaking your shirt or a klutz that knocks over everything you touch (don't worry, me too) I highly recommend spending a few extra dollars and getting a Nalgene Splash Guard."
"It's one of the few water bottles I've had that I haven't had to freeze over night to keep it cold because it fits ice cubes through the top very nicely (although, freezing this Nalgene works great and keeps your drink cold all day long, too)."
"If the splashguard ends up being effective I may purchase another Nalgene bottle so that I can swap them out- one to use while the other is in the diswasher, etc, and so that I do have one with (hopefully) a working strap for when i do need to attach it to something."
"I love these things I have three I fill up all the time and keep two of them frozen (Not sure if it's recommended) but I've frozen all the way the bottom of neck (Making sure to remove the lid during freezing also) and I've never had a problem."
"Another thing that had been a priority had been fitting in a cup holder but I also wanted more capacity and I couldn't see to find both, so I went with the larger size."

These are really important since most non-stainless steel water bottles do have BPA, which can cause all kinds of issues, especially with the hormones of children. We stopped storing our food in plastic containers (using glass ones instead), chose these Nalgene and some ,stainless steel water bottles, etc, and have felt much more relaxed for years now.""The opening is wide, as they claim; however, it's just at the size that makes it somewhat hard to drink from, because the rim bumps into my nose... The bottle does have a notice that says they are approximate values, so they may not be 100% accurate, but I'm not too worried about it... While they made the opening bigger "for easy cleaning", it's still not big enough for me to get my hand inside to clean it."
"*Note: if you're A messy dribbler that can't drink from a cup without soaking your shirt or a klutz that knocks over everything you touch (don't worry, me too) I highly recommend spending a few extra dollars and getting a Nalgene Splash Guard... I can understand that water bottle durability isn't a necessity for most, but for those who live rough (either because you're adventurous or you just constantly drop stuff), this bottle won't let you down... I also noticed that the plastic on Nalgene bottles is more resistant to scratches than my other bottles, and while I couldn't care less about the esthetics, the scratches trap a ton of dirt, so my Nalgene is way easier to clean no need to scrub, just rinse."
"If those aren't problems, then you can't clean them properly because nothing will fit through the little mouths... The wide mouth makes it easy to clean and easy to fill up without making a mess. It's one of the few water bottles I've had that I haven't had to freeze over night to keep it cold because it fits ice cubes through the top very nicely (although, freezing this Nalgene works great and keeps your drink cold all day long, too)."
"If I'm working out, it doesn't bother me, but if I'm at my desk at work and don't feel like I am dying of thirst it just puts me off from drinking out of it. It isn't a "new bottle" issue, either, because I have had this bottle for over half a year now... If the splashguard ends up being effective I may purchase another Nalgene bottle so that I can swap them out- one to use while the other is in the diswasher, etc, and so that I do have one with (hopefully) a working strap for when i do need to attach it to something."
"I love these things I have three I fill up all the time and keep two of them frozen (Not sure if it's recommended) but I've frozen all the way the bottom of neck (Making sure to remove the lid during freezing also) and I've never had a problem... This one fell off the tailgate of my truck at 60 mph when frozen solid and only had a couple of scratches where it first contacted the pavement... My first one is coming up on 6 years old and still like new on the inside (Only water in mine for most part, in one I've filled with boiling hot ramen many times and works as good with hot as it does cold)."
"Another thing that had been a priority had been fitting in a cup holder but I also wanted more capacity and I couldn't see to find both, so I went with the larger size... So, it doesn't fit in any of the ones in my Prius but does fit in the Mercury Mariner cupholder when you remove the cupholder insert allowing yourself a bit more space... The other thing that I'm thrilled about is that the bottle seals itself really well so you don't spill water whenever you open it."

"My favorite for everyday use at work and school are the newer ones that have a screw on top, but the top has a hinge with an arched topper-thing. The top opens up to reveal a hole about the circumference of a nickel, which gives you plenty of water without a lot of spills, makes refilling from a sink or fountain easier, and makes cleaning a breeze compared to the old style water bottles with pull tops w/ dinky holes to drink from, or straws. These are really important since most non-stainless steel water bottles do have BPA, which can cause all kinds of issues, especially with the hormones of children. We stopped storing our food in plastic containers (using glass ones instead), chose these Nalgene and some ,stainless steel water bottles, etc, and have felt much more relaxed for years now... Finally: My favorite about this particular 32 oz size is that you can practically get your hand in there to scrub it out. I can fit it in the top rack of my dishwasher, though I usually hand wash, and I know it will get clean... The con is for those who need a stainless steel bottle while bugging out or something, as a way to boil and therefore purify their water over a fire or stove.""I washed it right away, and just about everything came off... The opening is wide, as they claim; however, it's just at the size that makes it somewhat hard to drink from, because the rim bumps into my nose... The description claims it will withstand hot liquids as well, but I wouldn't use them with it... It has some nice measurements on the bottom which will give a basic idea of how much you are drinking. The bottle does have a notice that says they are approximate values, so they may not be 100% accurate, but I'm not too worried about it... While they made the opening bigger "for easy cleaning", it's still not big enough for me to get my hand inside to clean it... It feels like this will last a very long time, as long as I can find a way to keep the inside clean."
"This was actually my first "open mouth" water bottle (had previously always been loyal to bottles with a straw and mouth piece), but I may officially be converted! *Note: if you're A messy dribbler that can't drink from a cup without soaking your shirt or a klutz that knocks over everything you touch (don't worry, me too) I highly recommend spending a few extra dollars and getting a Nalgene Splash Guard... I can understand that water bottle durability isn't a necessity for most, but for those who live rough (either because you're adventurous or you just constantly drop stuff), this bottle won't let you down. I think part of the reason is that the plastic on these bottles is actually slightly softer than the plastic on many of my other bottles, so it seems to be able to absorb the shock of falls and dings much better. So while many of my other water bottles stayed tough until they didn't (eventually cracking), my Nalgene has survived all types of abuse including a 15 foot drop off a rock face. I also noticed that the plastic on Nalgene bottles is more resistant to scratches than my other bottles, and while I couldn't care less about the esthetics, the scratches trap a ton of dirt, so my Nalgene is way easier to clean no need to scrub, just rinse... Sometimes when I can't remember where I put it I just turn off the lights and BOOM there it is super visible even from yards away."
"Other water bottles leak, the caps come undone easily, or they just aren't durable. If those aren't problems, then you can't clean them properly because nothing will fit through the little mouths... The wide mouth makes it easy to clean and easy to fill up without making a mess. It's one of the few water bottles I've had that I haven't had to freeze over night to keep it cold because it fits ice cubes through the top very nicely (although, freezing this Nalgene works great and keeps your drink cold all day long, too)... The lid also has loop on it where you can clip it to a bag so it doesn't get lost. It's big enough and bright enough, depending on what color you get, so you can always find it. The marks on the side are great for knowing how much liquid you are consuming in a day."
"If I'm working out, it doesn't bother me, but if I'm at my desk at work and don't feel like I am dying of thirst it just puts me off from drinking out of it. It isn't a "new bottle" issue, either, because I have had this bottle for over half a year now... It had a slight plastic scent but it smelled cleaner, almost- it wasn't as strong and the character of the scent was not as unpleasant... However, if I have anything other than water in the bottle, I have another problem... The plastic strap broke away from the lid after just a few weeks of regular use. The bottle itself, though, is great, and is usable even without the strap even if it is a bit less portable than it was before.
This time it was almost full but completely melted. External scratches only but has not cracked or damaged the integrity of the bottle itself... I had tied a piece of para-cord to the loop that holds the lid tethered to the bottle tied the other end to a tree limb beside my hammock. I grabbed it, took a drink and dropped the nearly-full bottle and the force broke the small disk on top of the lid off.....
I didn't want a straw and I always spill on myself so the wide mouth was a must. The other thing that I'm thrilled about is that the bottle seals itself really well so you don't spill water whenever you open it. My prevous bottle dribbled water from the lid everytime I opened it and I just thought I was the reason... It is sturdy, drop-able without being breakable, has a wide opening and BONUS: fits in my large sized cup holders.
