Dream On Me Foam Graco Pack and Play Mattress

"I ordered this mattress because the product description stated it was 28"x 39"x 3". Having read all the reviews, I did not want to get one that was 26" wide. Just got it out of the box, measured it and this product measures: 25.5"x 38"x 2.5" It was more firm than I expected, but still a huge improvement compared to the mat that comes with pack and plays. Just out of curiosity, I set it into our pack and play. There is too large of a gap around the edges (about 1" on each side, so if it slid to one side, that's be a 2" gap- definitely enough room for baby to get an arm/leg and then body under = not safe) I was also disappointed in the poor quality of sewing with which the vinyl is attached, in at least 3 places there are between 2-4" of loose thread hanging, there is another place where the vinyl edging (which covers the seams and holds the large pieces of vinyl together at the edges) has folds in it or is buckled out from under itself. I wish I could post a pic but I cannot explain. Basically, I would expect this type quality from a generic store brand for a much lower price and with lower ratings. Perhaps the product has gone down hill so only recent ratings will reflect the actual product you're ordering? Not sure, but it was a big disappointment to me and I'll be returning it for sure. As for the smell- some reviewers commented on it having a strong smell. This (one I received) mattress doesn't have any unusually strong odor. I can't smell anything at all unless I get my nose within 2" of the vinyl, and even then, it smells faintly like new vinyl. I understand baby will have nose next to it; but this product has considerably LESS smell than our brand new crib mattress had, so if you get one with an offensive odor, something went wrong. The corners are quite rounded and (as evident with the dimensions I gave) this is a rectangular mattress, so it won't fit anything square shaped and will leave a gap if corners are 90 degrees as well. I am really disappointed, I could've overlooked the poor quality because I know how to sew and it would be covered with a quilted/fitted sheet, but the dimensions are wrong and this frustrates me since I intentionally did not order the product that claimed to be 26" wide; I ordered one that was claimed to be 28" wide and in reality it's only 25.5". If anyone still wants to purchase, just to let you know, I tried two different Carter's quilted/fitted pack and play sheets onto this mattress. This one could just barely fit if you quite stretched it (probably would make the elastic shot very quickly) Carters Velour Playard Fitted Sheet, Chocolate and this one didn't fit at all: Carters Quilted Woven Playard Fitted Sheet, Monkey"

"I was really unimpressed with this mattress, especially after seeing all the fairly positive reviews. I have a Grayco Pack n' Play with the Cuddlecove. I was hoping the mattress would fit a bit more snug then it did on the sides. It was fairly easy to push the loose mesh fabric of the Pack n Play away and create a trap on the sides of the mattress. I suppose this is why Grayco never officially said mattresses should be used for the Pack n Play and also why they probably don't even bother testing them. So basically, what I'm trying to say is that there is a reason Grayco says to NOT use mattresses. There is an entrapment risk using an after-market mattress with something not designed specifically and also tested for that same device. Sure, the mattress itself may pass tests, but that's not what concerns me. What concerns me is how the mattress performs inside the Pack n Play, and there are no guarantees since Grayco wants nothing to do with it. I'll end this with a quote straight out of the Pack n Play manual. Avoiding Suffocation Hazards Unlike cribs that have rigid sides, the playard has flexible sides. As a result, the playard mattress/pad is specially designed to prevent suffocation. The playard mattress/pad has a solid base, a certain length and width, and is less than one inch thick in order to meet safety standards. Using a thicker or a different sized mattress/pad may allow a child s head to get between mattress/pad and the side of the playard causing suffocation. Ok, so outside of that , let me get to the basics of the mattress itself and completely ignore it's compatability with the Pack n Play. The mattress is sturdy and has a little give to it. The fabric has a smooth plastic feel, almost like a mattress encased in a thick ziploc bag. It doesn't sound very comforable, because it isn't. The mattress, although inexpensive, is much less comfy then the one I have from IKEA in my crib. Is it better then the hard slab that Grayco leaves you with? Maybe, not by much in my honest opinion. Even if the mattress did fit, I would have returned it. I wanted something comfortable for our newborn to sleep on. This mattress may be better for someone who just wants to add a bit more cushion to the hard Grayco slab. But like I said before, it isn't a good fit for every Pack N Play out there."

"I purchased the Dream on me 3" Foam Graco Pack 'n Play mattress to go with my Nursery Trend pack 'n play and it fits perfectly, no gapping or anything. I have a 7 month old daughter and although she has a crib, we won't be able to use it until we move and she has her own room (it doesn't fit in our room now). I wanted something to "soften" and quiet her sleeping (she moves and rolls around a lot and bangs the bottom part of the pack 'n play, which is really loud). The mattress has worked great. I just wish I had purchased it when she was born. She's always liked a softer surface and I would have been comfortable with her as a newborn sleeping on this mattress, as it's plenty firm and she's always been very strong, lifting her head when she was a few days old. I also read some reviews that said they had a hard time finding sheets to go with the mattress. I ordered the American Baby Company natural organic cotton pack-n-play sheet and it fits the mattress perfectly. I will definitely be using the mattress when we travel (move) and until we move our daughter to the crib. I also plan on using the mattress for our next baby, as the pack-n-play has a 'bassinet' that the mattress will work great with too."

"Three words: Best. Thing. Ever. - My son would not sleep in his pack and play at all, as in never.....until I bought this mattress. We use it when we travel and he sleeps all night in it. There are a few things to note about this though: 1) My pack and play has the two levels. A higher level for when they are very small and then a lower setting as they get bigger. At the higher level, this mattress did not fit well (it's a Graco by the way) because of the way the pack and play (p&p from now on) is constructed. I did make it work but I had to push in the corners of the mattress and I was a little bowed when he was not in it. Not a deal breaker, I think, but something to be aware of. It fits perfect on the lower bed setting. 2) Not sure if special sheets are available for this. My p&p sheets do not fit this at all. I'm guessing there are so look for them and buy with it...I put a regular crib sheet which is too big but I made it work until I find the right ones. 3) This mattress makes the "pack" part of p&p less convenient as you do have to lug this mattress around. It is however very lightweight and can easily fold in half. I bet you could roll it too and secure it with w bungee or something. Either way, so worth it to have a sleeping baby!!"

"I bought the "Peyton" Graco Pack N Play to use in our room for our son during the first 4 months or so until he was old enough to be upstairs in his crib. The mattress that comes with the Pack N Play is very thin, it's basically cardboard with a super thin layer of padding over it. Now, I know that babies need a firm sleeping surface for safety but this seemed a little too firm and uncomfortable. So I went looking for a mattress that would fit tightly into the Pack N Play to keep his sleep environment safe. There are several mattresses on Amazon that are for the Pack N Play with some differences. This particular mattress has square corners, others have more rounded corners. I'm assuming that this is to fit various Pack N Play models, I recommend to check your particular model to see if it has square or rounded corners so you can pick the correct mattress shape. If this isn't clear by the description you can always go to the company website, find your model with the model numbers and look at their description. This is how I was able to get a mattress that fit well without any gaps. My son sleeps very well on the mattress and seems comfortable. I highly recommend this mattress to anyone looking to add a more comfortable sleeping surface for their Pack N Play."

"I have two "Graco Pack 'n Play On The Go Travel Playard", and bought two of this "Dream On Me 3" Foam Graco Pack n Play Mattress"--which fit perfectly. I like that the mattress has a vinyl cover over it for leaks and such, but it doesn't seem to make for a very comfortable sleep area for my babies. Also, it kind of made a crinkly noise when they would move around. The problem I have beyond this mattress is that I have trouble finding sheets that fit. I've ordered "Luvable Friends Fitted Pack n Play sheets", and the only ones that fit perfectly were the "Traditional Pink Print" (this is the one with teddy bears dressed in a pink ballerina outfit). I ordered the "American Baby Company 100% Cotton Value Jersey Knit Fitted Portable/Mini Sheet" in Pink, and even though the sheet's really soft, it doesn't fit quite well. Also, because the mattress has the vinyl/plastic covering, I decided to get the "American Baby Company Waterproof Quilted Cotton Portable/Mini Crib Mattress Pad Cover". The padding doesn't fit it perfectly, but when I pair it with a fitted sheet--voila! Perfect sleep area for my babies."

"we have a crib ready of our baby in the nursery. however, for the initial months, we are keeping the baby in a pack n play by the end of our bed, so we could tend to the baby quickly at night when needed. yes, pack n play does have a cushion that comes with it (the part where you are suppose to wrap the crib when it's packed). it's ok for when you are at grandparents house and only let the baby to sleep on it for a short period of time, since it's not that comfortable. since the pack n play will be our baby's bad for a few months, we got this for him to make sure he's comfortable. i know it's comfortable since we have this mattress for him to sleep at night and he has no problem with going to or styaing asleep, but the travel pack n play in our living room doesn't have a mattress and he cries when i put him down there (or doesn't stay asleep for more than 10 mins at a time). when using this mattress at the bassinet level in the pack n play, the baby is raised to a higher level and it's easier for me to stay with the baby (sitting next to the crib and holding his hands) or pick him up, since i don't need to bend down too low. now our baby is getting bigger and stronger, he could turn to one size at 2 months, the bassinet with the mattress becomes too shallow, so we need to use the lower level of the pack n play with the mattress. it's quite a long way to get to the baby at that level, so we get a second mattress to bump him up a bit. with this price, i think it's worth it. in the future when the baby moves into his actual crib, we could have a pack n play in the living downstairs and at grandparent's place, both with mattress and will be comfortable for the baby to sleep in."
