"Although they were long in the toe area, they weren't really very wide; my toes felt a little squished during the initial try-on, but not so much so that it ended up being a problem when I actually ran with them.""Before today I was just using these old Nike running shoes I bought on a trip years ago since I don't normally run they were still in good condition but are probably bottom of the line shoes."
"This time, I wanted to try something new and read lots of amazing reviews about the Kayano 21s, including a mention that they made the toe box bigger from the last model."
"Two minor complaints I have: I have a very wide foot, and even though I ordered a wide a half size above my usual size, they were too small and rubbed my little toe."
"I have worn Asics Kayano's since the 15 and this seemed odd to me, usually I just purchase another size 8 and put them on and go, right out of the box."
"Regardless, I love the comfort and support that I feel in these shoes and I will continue to buy Asics after my shoes get worn out."
"I have been wearing the gel-kayano shoes the past several years and have always loved them but these were awful!"

"Although they were long in the toe area, they weren't really very wide; my toes felt a little squished during the initial try-on, but not so much so that it ended up being a problem when I actually ran with them... My most recent pair of Brooks required several runs to break them in; though they feel great now, those first few runs left me with pretty painful feet, even after just a couple miles... I realize that a single run probably is not the best basis to write an entire review, so I will come back in a few weeks and update this post when I've had some more time to train in these babies.""Before today I was just using these old Nike running shoes I bought on a trip years ago since I don't normally run they were still in good condition but are probably bottom of the line shoes... I used them right out of the box with regular socks on and did almost 8 miles, now I'm not a runner so I didn't jog the whole way... Update, I put the dr schols active insoles in my old running shoes that I have converted to my regular shoes but those feel too stiff for me and I have decided to just stay with the regular asics insoles for now."
"This time, I wanted to try something new and read lots of amazing reviews about the Kayano 21s, including a mention that they made the toe box bigger from the last model... I was a size 8 in the GT 1000s & 2000s - with the Kayano 21s, the left shoe fits perfect, but my right big toe keeps hitting the front of the sneaker... 5 will be too big for my left foot, so I guess I am going back to the GT 2000s :( Same situation happened when I tried to buy a pair of the Gel Nimbus sneakers back in the spring, so be forewarned!!"
"I have used a different brand and stability level for several years, but ended up with plantar fasciitis... Two minor complaints I have: I have a very wide foot, and even though I ordered a wide a half size above my usual size, they were too small and rubbed my little toe... Again, I have a wide foot, and cannot tolerate tightly laced shoes, so this may not be a problem for anyone else but me."
"they arrived in time, nice packaging and all, but when I put the shoes on I noticed a very tight fitting toe box and my left foot seemed to be being turned inwards. I have worn Asics Kayano's since the 15 and this seemed odd to me, usually I just purchase another size 8 and put them on and go, right out of the box... I sent the shoes back and have since gotten them with my local Tennis & Golf Company footwear, and the new ones have no discomfort, no turning of the foot, no tingling sensations, I just put them on and go as I have always done with Asics Gel Kayano."
"The thing that separates this shoe from all of the other shoes I have worn is that it offers both support AND cushion... I can stand on my feet all day with out getting uncomfortable and achy... Regardless, I love the comfort and support that I feel in these shoes and I will continue to buy Asics after my shoes get worn out."
"I have been wearing the gel-kayano shoes the past several years and have always loved them but these were awful!... I ordered the same size and width as I always do but these just did not fit right and felt super hard and stiff... This time I went to a store and compared the two and the nimbus had a ton more cushin and felt a lot better at the store so I'm hoping these work out ."

"After I had worn these shoes out, I moved on to the Brooks Adrenaline GTS; I like those shoes a lot and currently have two pairs... My first impression when trying them on is that they are also a lot cushier than my Brooks, while still providing good arch support. Although they were long in the toe area, they weren't really very wide; my toes felt a little squished during the initial try-on, but not so much so that it ended up being a problem when I actually ran with them... My most recent pair of Brooks required several runs to break them in; though they feel great now, those first few runs left me with pretty painful feet, even after just a couple miles... 2 miles; my feet only started to feel "tired" for the last couple of miles, and I have had no issues so far with post-run pain. I realize that a single run probably is not the best basis to write an entire review, so I will come back in a few weeks and update this post when I've had some more time to train in these babies... I love these shoes; I was nervous about branching out from a model of shoe that I know and love, but in the case of the Asics Kayano I think it was a very good decision.""I had all intentions of buying these shoes for Amazon but on a whim I stopped by the running store right by my workplace today and they were slightly cheaper... Before today I was just using these old Nike running shoes I bought on a trip years ago since I don't normally run they were still in good condition but are probably bottom of the line shoes... I used them right out of the box with regular socks on and did almost 8 miles, now I'm not a runner so I didn't jog the whole way. We did our normal pace but I was telling my running partner that these shoes are way more padded then my old ones... I just got home and while my feet are a little sore im having no problems going up stairs or walking around the house like I normally do... I was debating between these or the nimbus 17s but the guy at the running store said these have better arch support and I have flat feet so I went with these... Update, I put the dr schols active insoles in my old running shoes that I have converted to my regular shoes but those feel too stiff for me and I have decided to just stay with the regular asics insoles for now."
"My last 4 pairs of running sneakers were all Asics - 2 pairs of the GT 1000's and 2 pairs of the GT 2000's, all of which I wore straight into the ground. They were terrific for an overpronator who walks like a damn pigeon (i... This time, I wanted to try something new and read lots of amazing reviews about the Kayano 21s, including a mention that they made the toe box bigger from the last model... although they are amazingly comfortable from the get-go and look superb, the toe box is in no way, shape or form 'bigger'. I was a size 8 in the GT 1000s & 2000s - with the Kayano 21s, the left shoe fits perfect, but my right big toe keeps hitting the front of the sneaker... Though they are not causing any real pain, I could not stop focusing on my right toe hitting the front of the sneaker... 5 will be too big for my left foot, so I guess I am going back to the GT 2000s :( Same situation happened when I tried to buy a pair of the Gel Nimbus sneakers back in the spring, so be forewarned!!"
"I have used a different brand and stability level for several years, but ended up with plantar fasciitis. I finally decided to try the Asics Gel Kayano after it being recommended to me time and time again... They slipped on my heel at first, but I just used the extra lacing hole, and they were fine. Two minor complaints I have: I have a very wide foot, and even though I ordered a wide a half size above my usual size, they were too small and rubbed my little toe. When I ordered a wide a whole size up, I found the right fit. My second complaint is related to the first, in that I did not find the shoelaces to be long enough. Again, I have a wide foot, and cannot tolerate tightly laced shoes, so this may not be a problem for anyone else but me."
"Finally, after multiple pairs of unsupportive Nikes and some ugly, uncomfortable Danskos I have found a shoe that accommodates my needs... The thing that separates this shoe from all of the other shoes I have worn is that it offers both support AND cushion. It is by far the most cushiony shoe that I have worn, I've never tried on a shoe like it. I can stand on my feet all day with out getting uncomfortable and achy... I tried on this model in stores before buying online (which by the way, these shoes were $160 in store... Paid $95 on here) and I noticed in the store and on the floor at work today that the heel slips a little bit when I walk... Regardless, I love the comfort and support that I feel in these shoes and I will continue to buy Asics after my shoes get worn out."
"I have been wearing the gel-kayano shoes the past several years and have always loved them but these were awful! My last pairs were 19 and they were great but the 21 have changed drastically and left my feet in excrutiating pain. I went on two walks with them and could hardly make it home. Another thing I noticed was my feet slipping inside the toe box and rubbing more than normal on the bottom of the shoe. I ordered the same size and width as I always do but these just did not fit right and felt super hard and stiff. Luckily I will be able to return them and am purchasing the gel-nimbus instead from Amazon. This time I went to a store and compared the two and the nimbus had a ton more cushin and felt a lot better at the store so I'm hoping these work out ."
