It is skinny clear thin soft plastic strands with little delicate lights that are soft and glowing at night... They plug into the wall and worked right out of the box. I turn them on every night and have had no issues. The only thing I don't like is there is a clunky square remote box that hangs down on the wall half way down... I don't know what they were thinking... That's the only reason I took off 1 star."
