"It's tricky at first, because the large hand that looks like it would be for the second hand is actually for the timer.""The band is the same as what is on another Timex watch that I have, and while it stiff at first it does eventually get more flexable as you wear it."
"I'm attaching 3 pictures of it on my wrist, and you can see I changed the band to a waterproof black band (Mens Rubbertech (TM) Silicone Rubber Watchband Stainless Steel Deployment Buckle), which I think looks way better than the included leather band."
"With a watch like this where aesthetics were obviously a very important consideration, I would have preferred thinner hands w/o the hollow areas in the middle, such as the Timex T2N389 (which I just ordered and will review soon)."
"now that i'm wearing a watch, i'm getting complemented or asked about it all the time, even if its only a 50$ time piece."
"If you are having difficulty understanding the hand/wrist stress, think of yourself in a push-up position while wearing the watch."
"First, what I would call the second hand, the longest hand with the orange arrow shape to it actually serves as the second hand for the chronograph."

"It's tricky at first, because the large hand that looks like it would be for the second hand is actually for the timer. There's nothing wrong with the watch, it's just an adjustment that you have to get used to... However if you're someone who uses the second hand a lot, then you might want to take that into consideration.""I did that - but the manual I found and downloaded was pretty generic and for a variety of different styles and models (some with more/less features than this watch)... The band is the same as what is on another Timex watch that I have, and while it stiff at first it does eventually get more flexable as you wear it... I'm happy with my purchase - just not thrilled with having to go find a manual, being confused by that manual, and the oddness in setting the date and time."
"I'm attaching 3 pictures of it on my wrist, and you can see I changed the band to a waterproof black band (Mens Rubbertech (TM) Silicone Rubber Watchband Stainless Steel Deployment Buckle), which I think looks way better than the included leather band... This black band is great and will review separately, but felt I needed it as, a) I thought the brown leather band didn't fit the mostly black watch, and b) leather isn't great with water... Third, the stopwatch function (and the second hand) tick at 1-second intervals and do not sweep through a second like mechanical watches (this is basically the way most quartz watches work, with some exceptions)."
"If you're like me and can't stand the sound of clocks or watches when you're trying to sleep, you'll be very happy with this watch... With a watch like this where aesthetics were obviously a very important consideration, I would have preferred thinner hands w/o the hollow areas in the middle, such as the Timex T2N389 (which I just ordered and will review soon)... This is a bit perplexing to me because it seems the inset dials should be chrono functions while leaving the primary hands for regular time."
"this is my first "real" watch other than a few old digital's, way back when (around 2005 was the last one) when I first joined the military... I really like the layout and function of this watch, but I would like to see this as an entry level auto chrono... now that i'm wearing a watch, i'm getting complemented or asked about it all the time, even if its only a 50$ time piece."
"The middle knob of the watch (the main knob that you push for light/pull to set time) is a bit large and too exposed for its own good... If you are having difficulty understanding the hand/wrist stress, think of yourself in a push-up position while wearing the watch... The knob on the first one broke after being in the field doing archaeology, the second in an outdoor adventure, and the 3rd occurred by simply pushing myself off the floor after lying down."
"I love Timex, and I've owned several watches over the years from the Expedition line... You can set it for two different time zones which isn't really an important feature to me... First, what I would call the second hand, the longest hand with the orange arrow shape to it actually serves as the second hand for the chronograph."

"That's one of my main reasons for staying with Timex after the whole Weekender debacle -I hated to lose the functionality of the indiglo... It's tricky at first, because the large hand that looks like it would be for the second hand is actually for the timer. There's nothing wrong with the watch, it's just an adjustment that you have to get used to... However if you're someone who uses the second hand a lot, then you might want to take that into consideration... I thought I might have to look at it longer than just a glance in order to read the time, but this hasn't been an issue either... The hour and minute hands are the only ones that glow - the chronograph hands and second hands to not glow... I've had this watch just a day over two months and the leather band is wearing pretty well.""I did that - but the manual I found and downloaded was pretty generic and for a variety of different styles and models (some with more/less features than this watch)... I'm guessing that setting the minute hand first and then setting the hour hand would have been the thing to do... The problem I have with those - most watches of this kind usually have the labels for the buttons on the backside of the watch - this one doesn't. So you need to remember what the buttons do and how to start/stop/reset the stopwatch. If you use that function often then it's likely that you will remember - but if you're like me and only need to use that on the occasional basis, you're probably going to forget...
I have only had this one day but after a shower with it there were no issues. This black band is great and will review separately, but felt I needed it as, a) I thought the brown leather band didn't fit the mostly black watch, and b) leather isn't great with water. One reviewer mentioned that the second hand stopped when the stopwatch function was used... The date is set by pulling the crown out one-click, which cycles the hour hand only through the days rapidly... I haven't used it long enough to know if it continues after 30 minutes or just stops...
I'm also not entirely sold on the arms used for the hours and minutes. With a watch like this where aesthetics were obviously a very important consideration, I would have preferred thinner hands w/o the hollow areas in the middle, such as the Timex T2N389 (which I just ordered and will review soon). I also find it odd that the seconds are kept on the lower inset dial and not the primary second hand... This is a bit perplexing to me because it seems the inset dials should be chrono functions while leaving the primary hands for regular time. Also, when using the chrono the inset upper right hand keeps time down to 1/20th of a second... I spent a bit more than $50 for this watch but it certainly looks and feels as though it's worth more."
"this is my first "real" watch other than a few old digital's, way back when (around 2005 was the last one) when I first joined the military... I got the leather band option, as it seems to suit more outfits as an every-day or weekender type watch. a nylon nato strap would be/is awesome, and I may get one, but for now the leather is awesome... I really like the layout and function of this watch, but I would like to see this as an entry level auto chrono... however the market seems to have a huge opening for budget automatic chronographs -- likely due to price of manufacture in order to get those features... I used to see them as impractical, as most people just carry their phone around and just use that to tell the time... now that i'm wearing a watch, i'm getting complemented or asked about it all the time, even if its only a 50$ time piece."
"The middle knob of the watch (the main knob that you push for light/pull to set time) is a bit large and too exposed for its own good... If you are having difficulty understanding the hand/wrist stress, think of yourself in a push-up position while wearing the watch... The knob on the first one broke after being in the field doing archaeology, the second in an outdoor adventure, and the 3rd occurred by simply pushing myself off the floor after lying down... If you look at a few other Timex 'expedition' models, you'll see the case is molded to the sides of the knob, protecting it from stress. This particular model could use something like that... If you have a simple life working in the office and come home to the couch, this watch will suit you fine. For all others who move their hands in all sorts of directions, beware of this watch."
"I found it very difficult to set with the second time zone option, which I found probably the most useless feature on an analog watch... I love Timex, and I've owned several watches over the years from the Expedition line... Falling behind the clock on my iPhone about a minute a week- not a big deal to me - and easy to reset... You can set it for two different time zones which isn't really an important feature to me... First, what I would call the second hand, the longest hand with the orange arrow shape to it actually serves as the second hand for the chronograph. I would have preferred it be the second hand for the watch itself, but not a deal breaker for me... I replaced them with a 20mm Nato band, and that I really like."
