Very Quick
"I've got some tips (see below) on how to get the most out of it, but first, here are the things I like about it: It's perfect for people with smaller wrists like mine.""It might not have the same quality in its movement and dial as more expensive watches, but it's a great watch to start with if you're getting into watches."
"* PROS: Good quality movement, Nice price, Quality band, Good lume, Matte case, Good size for my small wrists CONS: Band not as comfortable as I like but it is very easy to switch out, The mineral glass is not as scratch resistant as sapphire, the size may not be for everybody."
"So, this is non-hacking, meaning that the 2nd hand keeps running while setting the time, but I was able to get it to stop and kind of run in reverse to be able to synchronise with my Atomic Citizen watch."
"Speaking of which I read a bit about this online and understand this movement is used in many higher priced Seikos."
"There are a lot of stories about how those mechanisms have NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A SERVICE CENTER for up to 15 years and they still work without problems (something nobody should do to an automatic watch)."
"This is a non hackable movement BUT if you pull the crown and gently apply very light pressure as to make the minute hand almost turn counter clockwise the second hand will stop allowing you to hack with GPS time."

"I've got some tips (see below) on how to get the most out of it, but first, here are the things I like about it: It's perfect for people with smaller wrists like mine... I've had watches before that are much closer to an atomic clock than this, but if a few seconds deviation a week doesn't bother you, this will be just fine... And now for the tips: These watches don't come wound up very much - before you worry about setting dates or times, I'd recommend taking 60 seconds to shake the watch and wind it up.""It might not have the same quality in its movement and dial as more expensive watches, but it's a great watch to start with if you're getting into watches... One thing you'll notice on some Seikos is that the crown is at the 4 o'clock position, which is supposed to make it more comfortable if you wear it on the left wrist... If you're looking for your first automatic watch or just need something that can be worn every day, then look no further."
"* PROS: Good quality movement, Nice price, Quality band, Good lume, Matte case, Good size for my small wrists CONS: Band not as comfortable as I like but it is very easy to switch out, The mineral glass is not as scratch resistant as sapphire, the size may not be for everybody... This watch also is automatic, which means that it will run forever as long as you wear it every day, which means that there is no battery to replace... My watch crystal already has a small scratch on the front, something that would not have happened if it was made of a harder material."
"It works fine for setting the time, day and date, but gets a little difficult when you have to cycle through a whole month for the date... So, this is non-hacking, meaning that the 2nd hand keeps running while setting the time, but I was able to get it to stop and kind of run in reverse to be able to synchronise with my Atomic Citizen watch... This does not have a manual wind feature, so moving around with it on your wrist or shaking it will wind it and should run for a couple of days sitting on your shelf."
"Speaking of which I read a bit about this online and understand this movement is used in many higher priced Seikos... And because it is cloth, it has some give and everything combined make for an extremely comfortable feeling watch... It has stopped running a few times, but never when it was being worn."
"There are a lot of stories about how those mechanisms have NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A SERVICE CENTER for up to 15 years and they still work without problems (something nobody should do to an automatic watch)... I tend to think about it as a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla: A relatively small piece, that does not deliver the best results in terms of power, speed, precision, style and that does not scream the big amount of money you paid for it; but that is always there for you, that is very trustworthy, that lasts a lot and that does cost very little to mantain. Now, the reason why I give it 5 stars despite the lesser quality of the strap and its less than optimal precision is that in all fairness, the strap is not a problem about the watch itself and can be replaced, and on the other hand, it seems the precision can be improved."
"I was in the market for a quality automatic to replace the 30 year old Seiko 5 that I've been wearing forever... I could possibly adjust to get the accuracy even better but I figure that if it isn't broke I'm not going to fix it until it is... This is a non hackable movement BUT if you pull the crown and gently apply very light pressure as to make the minute hand almost turn counter clockwise the second hand will stop allowing you to hack with GPS time."

I've had watches before that are much closer to an atomic clock than this, but if a few seconds deviation a week doesn't bother you, this will be just fine... ) :) The glow-in-the-dark points and hands are a bit under-powered - but that's pretty standard for a watch at this price range and size... And now for the tips: These watches don't come wound up very much - before you worry about setting dates or times, I'd recommend taking 60 seconds to shake the watch and wind it up... The seams of the canvas strap have been melted at the end that was cut off to prevent fraying, but it's not comfortable... That seems like a silly rule, but you can actually damage an automatic watch's date function by doing this, because the mechanism that changes the date is engaged during those hours. If you're unlucky and your watch stopped between those hours, or you're not sure if it stopped around noon (fine) or midnight (bad), you will want to follow the following procedure just to be safe: 1.""* Pros: Great watch for the price, automatic movement, classic design Cons: Mediocre band, a tad too small, short power reserve The Seiko 5 has almost a legendary status among watch collectors/enthusiasts... It might not have the same quality in its movement and dial as more expensive watches, but it's a great watch to start with if you're getting into watches. You're not going to be able to find a better automatic movement at this price range, especially one as reliable and capable as the 7S26. Not only are you getting a reliable movement, you get peace of mind knowing that it is from a company like Seiko... One thing you'll notice on some Seikos is that the crown is at the 4 o'clock position, which is supposed to make it more comfortable if you wear it on the left wrist. However, the crown of this watch is so small and recessed anyway that it wouldn't have made a difference where it was... If you're looking for your first automatic watch or just need something that can be worn every day, then look no further."

This is when I realized that all I wanted was a nice looking watch without the fancy tech features that the other two provided. This watch also is automatic, which means that it will run forever as long as you wear it every day, which means that there is no battery to replace... The surfaces are made matte for a reason, so they do not glare sunlight into your eye when you are flying a plane or doing anything important... I have worn this watch every day for a few weeks now and it never had any hiccups... I have since then replaced it with a tan leather band from some other brand on Amazon... My watch crystal already has a small scratch on the front, something that would not have happened if it was made of a harder material."
"The oldest of my 3 Citizens has lume that comes close, but it's only applied on the hour, minute and second hands... It works fine for setting the time, day and date, but gets a little difficult when you have to cycle through a whole month for the date... So, this is non-hacking, meaning that the 2nd hand keeps running while setting the time, but I was able to get it to stop and kind of run in reverse to be able to synchronise with my Atomic Citizen watch... This does not have a manual wind feature, so moving around with it on your wrist or shaking it will wind it and should run for a couple of days sitting on your shelf. You can hear something jingle around when you shake your wrist and even if you tap on the case... If you want something bigger you can spend about $120-$140 on other Seiko 5 models or even go to an Orient Mako II diving watch. Recommend it if you want an inexpensive mechanical watch to try out before spending more money on a nicer one."
"While looking around for a good price, I stumbled upon this, the Seiko, and felt it would satisfy my curiosity at a good bit lower price... The face struck me as somewhat overly crowded and busy, though interesting with different numbers and lines going every which way... For a moment, I felt it was a little bit blocky or thick but that quickly passed, and I guess it needs the depth to accommodate the automatic movement. Speaking of which I read a bit about this online and understand this movement is used in many higher priced Seikos... And because it is cloth, it has some give and everything combined make for an extremely comfortable feeling watch... It seemed so much cooler to me than the way the second hand moves on my Quartz watches. It has stopped running a few times, but never when it was being worn."
"I was looking for an everyday watch which did not cost too much, but I never thought I could get a Seiko for around USD 55. This watch is a little small if compared to the sizes currently in the market but since I do not have a big wrist, that was nothing to worry about (and again, for that price..... And I got both, albeit the strap is definitely not worthwhile (although it is a decent strap, it is something that you should consider to change)... There are a lot of stories about how those mechanisms have NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A SERVICE CENTER for up to 15 years and they still work without problems (something nobody should do to an automatic watch)... Moreover, I have heard that such problem can be substantially reduced if you take it to a good watch expert, in order to get some adjustments to increase its precision. "I was in the market for a quality automatic to replace the 30 year old Seiko 5 that I've been wearing forever... I'm tracking this very closely and I'm at about -1 or -2 seconds a day give or take... I could possibly adjust to get the accuracy even better but I figure that if it isn't broke I'm not going to fix it until it is... This is a non hackable movement BUT if you pull the crown and gently apply very light pressure as to make the minute hand almost turn counter clockwise the second hand will stop allowing you to hack with GPS time... It's a matter of preference but I prefer a quality leather band over a nylon or canvas weave band... I wear this watch all the time and during a workout sweat goes in, does not come out... I replaced it with a very similar looking, but solar powered, SNE179 "Railroad Approved" piece until I can get it fixed."
