"First of all, if this is your only option you should know that it does indeed diffuse oil as it claims, so you will have a working device... Also, the lid has to be lined up precisely and then screwed on a little once it s full, which is almost impossible to do while it s sitting flat once again making it hard not to spill out the oily water. The light on it can be a bit bright in a dark room even on the "dim" setting, so if you're sensitive to light I'd leave it off if you're diffusing at night... I pulled lid off, filled with water, drops a few drops of lavender in, put lid back on, plunged in and pressed the mist button and chose the lavender color... It's very important to use real and pure essential oils for this - the kind that are made for diffusers... The 3 hour timer seems to be a little bit finicky, sometimes it will turn off after only being on for 30 or so minutes, other times it will run for the full 3 hours... I haven't ever used it without adding more water though, I don't want to risk damaging it... This makes it much easier to remove and check the water level without trying to pry it off and make a mess. But then I got this little gadget and realized that I would indeed pay more for one that s a little easier to use. First of all, if this is your only option you should know that it does indeed diffuse oil as it claims, so you will have a working device... You have to plug the adapter into the bottom which makes it nearly impossible to plug in with water in it without spilling water from the reservoir. I, personally, enjoy the intermittent mist because it lasts longer... The light on it can be a bit bright in a dark room even on the "dim" setting, so if you're sensitive to light I'd leave it off if you're diffusing at night. But My son and daughter like it on the dim setting at night. Pretty easy to figure out but some people are smarter than others. Only complaint I have is the loud beep it makes when it shuts off. I would prefer it to not make any noise at all when turning off because it wakes me up (I m a light sleeper). I only use it during the day because of that."
