Catit Style Scratcher with Catnip, Jungle-Stripe Lounge

"This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well."

"Either way I had some issues with sick kitties shortly after and the vet seemed to think it was the new brand of catnip (the one included in the package)."

"I've had the scratcher for about 6 weeks now and he's torn up one side already and I've flipped it over and he's already done some damage on the other side."

"On the plus side, that bit of carpet is now REALLY interesting to my feline companions ~_^ It'll do the job passably, though, and I have a couple cats who strongly prefer horizontal scratching, so they seem to passably like it The only thing I really don't like about these scratchers is that they move a lot when the cats use them."

"I really should add photos of him not just scratching but sleeping, laying (In the cutest positions, even upside down) and just sitting on it to even playing with it."

"My cats really like this though, they lay on it all day and after having it for a few weeks of them scratching still seams like it has alot of life left in it before i have to replace it."

"Another was feral and rarely retracts his claws, but even he uses this and it seems to be helping."

"I like these scratching pads because they are inexpensive, and that makes them extremely replaceable when my cats inevitably destroy them... In other words, if you sprinkle catnip on it, the catnip will fall right through to the floor... This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well."

"I have spent more money, than any sane person should, on high-end wrought iron beds and Martha Stewart Foot stools (directly from her website before her products were in pet stores)... Meanwhile there has never been a cardboard box enter my house that was not part of a turf war of some sort... Either way I had some issues with sick kitties shortly after and the vet seemed to think it was the new brand of catnip (the one included in the package)."

"For $6 I think it was a great buy, but I don't think its worth buying if its any more expensive than that... Since it is a cheap scratcher, there's a lot of cardboard pieces that come off when my cat scratches it... I've had the scratcher for about 6 weeks now and he's torn up one side already and I've flipped it over and he's already done some damage on the other side."

"On the plus side, that bit of carpet is now REALLY interesting to my feline companions ~_^ It'll do the job passably, though, and I have a couple cats who strongly prefer horizontal scratching, so they seem to passably like it The only thing I really don't like about these scratchers is that they move a lot when the cats use them... They can sit on it and scratch in front of their back feet (I honestly don't know ANY cats who like doing that; cats like to stretch out when they scratch) but other than that, the thing flips over.... I think that may be partly because it's been really hot here lately, and the holes through the thing allow not just catnip to go straight through, but air as well."

"I purchased 2 different ones prior for quite a bit more money and most time they are just room adornments now... I really should add photos of him not just scratching but sleeping, laying (In the cutest positions, even upside down) and just sitting on it to even playing with it... I can not attest to how long it would last if he had his claws but I see this lasting forever for him."

"The only reason i'm docking a star is because unlike what i buy at the store there is no paper liner on the bottom of this scratcher so the catnip falls right through. Unfortunately i did not notice this when i first opened it, so i spread catnip on it and then picked it up to take it to the room i wanted only to realize i was leaving an entire trail of catnip falling out of the bottom of this... My cats really like this though, they lay on it all day and after having it for a few weeks of them scratching still seams like it has alot of life left in it before i have to replace it."

"He's the destructive one and I haven't seen him sharpen his claws anywhere else, since this arrived... Another was feral and rarely retracts his claws, but even he uses this and it seems to be helping. I bought a nice cat tree at the same time, but only the "destroyer" plays with that, while the other two leave it be."

"My strategy for dealing with adolescent cats/kittens is to place a scratching post or pad in any place that I see them scratching up something I don't want them to scratch up... Therefore, he also does a number on the scratching posts and pads that I bring home even if he uses them far less often. I like these scratching pads because they are inexpensive, and that makes them extremely replaceable when my cats inevitably destroy them... The original one I bout about three years ago is still in my home, though I think it's days are now numbered... In other words, if you sprinkle catnip on it, the catnip will fall right through to the floor... This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well... I have two remaining scratching pads in my home that I will probably replace with these once they wear out."

"I have spent more money, than any sane person should, on high-end wrought iron beds and Martha Stewart Foot stools (directly from her website before her products were in pet stores)... Meanwhile there has never been a cardboard box enter my house that was not part of a turf war of some sort... I lay awake in the little square inch of bed that my cats allow me to have, wishing that I had purchased this magical furniture piece... And yet, I was wrong, It helped that you are encouraged to sprinkle catnip on it - which was a call to all fury-tailed beasts in the vicinity to come running... Either way I had some issues with sick kitties shortly after and the vet seemed to think it was the new brand of catnip (the one included in the package)... This is my only reason for withholding a star (as the $200 vet bill to be told that the catnip made them sick was kind of a HUGE bummer! ) I fully expected to have to replace this scratcher within a few weeks as I expected my kitties to rip through it like bathroom tissue - not the case."

"For $6 I think it was a great buy, but I don't think its worth buying if its any more expensive than that. The scratcher is on the small side and its light, so when it first arrived, it used to slide around a lot when my cat tried to scratch on it... Since it is a cheap scratcher, there's a lot of cardboard pieces that come off when my cat scratches it... My cat likes to sit and scratch on this often, so I'm definitely getting my money's worth. But it's definitely too small for him, I've seen him roll off of it multiple times... I've had the scratcher for about 6 weeks now and he's torn up one side already and I've flipped it over and he's already done some damage on the other side. It will probably last a few more weeks before I toss it."

"* Smaller than I was expecting, and the included catnip is basically just powder, which..... On the plus side, that bit of carpet is now REALLY interesting to my feline companions ~_^ It'll do the job passably, though, and I have a couple cats who strongly prefer horizontal scratching, so they seem to passably like it The only thing I really don't like about these scratchers is that they move a lot when the cats use them. Only one of my 4 cats is under 11 lbs (big cats, not fat cats) and these are really a bit small for them to use the way they want to. They can sit on it and scratch in front of their back feet (I honestly don't know ANY cats who like doing that; cats like to stretch out when they scratch) but other than that, the thing flips over.. Not too many cats are OK with scratching things that move, except the occasional human or other animal, and none of mine are. I think I'll probably end up attaching them (I bought 2 of these, and several of other varieties) to some of the trees and shelves so they can use them properly..... I think that may be partly because it's been really hot here lately, and the holes through the thing allow not just catnip to go straight through, but air as well."

"As all cats, he still likes to scratch and 'exercise' his paws. I purchased 2 different ones prior for quite a bit more money and most time they are just room adornments now... I really should add photos of him not just scratching but sleeping, laying (In the cutest positions, even upside down) and just sitting on it to even playing with it. He actually moves it slightly and puts toys under to play. It's not the cat nip that came with it either as he is one of those that does not get into the nip... I can not attest to how long it would last if he had his claws but I see this lasting forever for him. We are both extremely happy with this."

"I bought only one of these initially, just to give it a try (also to keep the new sofa from meeting the same fate as the old one)... He's the destructive one and I haven't seen him sharpen his claws anywhere else, since this arrived. One is petite, elderly and on the cranky side, she doesn't play or care for catnip. She turned into a pouncing kitten when she saw this, now she chases the others off and takes naps on it. Another was feral and rarely retracts his claws, but even he uses this and it seems to be helping. I bought a nice cat tree at the same time, but only the "destroyer" plays with that, while the other two leave it be. After a few weeks, it's pretty beat up but it's still their happy place, and saving our furniture at the same time!"
