"Make no mistake; this is not going to completely immobilize your target like a taser (I don't think any stun gun would), but it will provide localized pain and local muscle contractions.""When using a stun gun the voltage will never flow back into the user even if they are making skin-to-skin contact with the person being stunned; there is simply too much skin resistance to make a second jump."
"At that time a couple of young high schoolers came around the corner from the skate park that was behind the Bowling Alley, both of them not armed however big enough to beat me down and have there way with the girls I was with, and we figured out that's exactly what they wanted."
"This stun gun is really good with discharging the electrodes after use and is pretty darn safe but I did try getting shocked by the residual energy left in them a few times, usually it would just feel like touching your tongue to a 9 volt battery, but a couple times when I touched it it felt like a got a real shock from it so just be careful."
"Very easy to carry for example if you are walking out to a parking lot, you can have your keys in one hand, this in the other and still be able to carry your purse and push a buggy."
"Having read other reviews I would say maybe a critical thing to note is that it should not be dry fired for more than a second, as the instructions state clearly that it can/will damage the unit."
"and the company security guard goes home at midnight - I just like to know when hubby is there at 2 or 3 in the morning and he's walking to his car alone that he also has protection if it's needed."

"Make no mistake; this is not going to completely immobilize your target like a taser (I don't think any stun gun would), but it will provide localized pain and local muscle contractions... Compared to the red Vipertek VTS-881 (which I also received pre-charged from DealsPlus), the flashlight on the red VTS-881 is brighter and more useful... One thing that I got that I didn't hear about from other people testing the stun gun action was very minor burns where the electrodes contacted my leg.""NEVER hold the button down on a stun gun for more than 1 second when not applied to a resistive body (a person or other animal) as that will damage the stun gun circuitry. When using a stun gun the voltage will never flow back into the user even if they are making skin-to-skin contact with the person being stunned; there is simply too much skin resistance to make a second jump... This is a cute little stun gun, and if it can be used to scare someone into non-violence then it will work for you."
"I received it around 1pm and went straight to our Sheriff station for my shocking so I could legally carry these puppy around (check your state for Taser Carry laws), and let me tell you this thing WORKS... Now before anyone asks why didn't I man up and just fight the guys I am about to tell about, I am an injured Afghan War Vet that needs a cane to walk around for the most part, my fighting days are over sadly enough... At that time a couple of young high schoolers came around the corner from the skate park that was behind the Bowling Alley, both of them not armed however big enough to beat me down and have there way with the girls I was with, and we figured out that's exactly what they wanted."

I bought this because of some unfriendly tenants in the house I live in and I feel comfortable to keep this in my pocket (without the case on) at all times, I have not yet shocked myself unintentionally and I don't believe I will... I taught her (amateur) proper technique for use as soon as I handed her the stun gun, which is important when giving someone something so powerful."
"However, just the sound and the little bright bolt of electricity it gives out should scare anyone... It is small, which is perfect for my hands, and has a rubbery grip so I do not feel like I would drop it in a situation where I would need to use it... Very easy to carry for example if you are walking out to a parking lot, you can have your keys in one hand, this in the other and still be able to carry your purse and push a buggy."

So, don't "play" with it and make or buy a better case and you will have a budget stun gun that still gets the job done. Even if you can't resist the urge to play, it's inexpensive and easily replaced if you break it, just remember to do that so you aren't relying on a compromised unit to get you out of a jam."
"She didn't even have to use it - just showing she had it was enough. The second one I bought for a friend going through a bitter divorce with a violent husband... and the company security guard goes home at midnight - I just like to know when hubby is there at 2 or 3 in the morning and he's walking to his car alone that he also has protection if it's needed."

"Part of my first stun gun purchase, but I got this at about $11 - a bargain, compared to other prices on stun guns I've seen. I got it from DealsPlus with it apparently pre-charged; the manual said I'd need to charge it for 6-8 hours to get it started, but it seemed to come fully functional... When the stun gun is armed, there's a button right above the switch to activate that small arc of electricity. Make no mistake; this is not going to completely immobilize your target like a taser (I don't think any stun gun would), but it will provide localized pain and local muscle contractions... It kind of feels like many syringes going into my leg, but obviously a lot more painful than getting your flu shot... Compared to the red Vipertek VTS-881 (which I also received pre-charged from DealsPlus), the flashlight on the red VTS-881 is brighter and more useful... One thing that I got that I didn't hear about from other people testing the stun gun action was very minor burns where the electrodes contacted my leg.""Depending on the model, voltages can range from 25,000 to 900,000 volts, and even slightly higher for baton type models commonly used on cattle or in riot control... This causes a slower reaction in having the muscles fail which can negate some injury as the person is more likely to adjust themselves as they realize they are beginning to fall... Sometimes that is not the case as the clothing will prevent penetration of the skin (but the unit will still do its job). NEVER hold the button down on a stun gun for more than 1 second when not applied to a resistive body (a person or other animal) as that will damage the stun gun circuitry. When using a stun gun the voltage will never flow back into the user even if they are making skin-to-skin contact with the person being stunned; there is simply too much skin resistance to make a second jump... The following is a list which shows the rule of thumb voltages required to jump a dry air gap - a 1 millimeter electrical gap requires 1,000 volts to arc through air a 1 centimeter electrical gap requires 10,000 volts to arc through air a 1 inch electrical gap requires 25,400 volts to arc through air a 1 foot electrical gap requires 304,800 volts to arc through air a 1 yard electrical gap requires 914,400 volts to arc through air a 1 meter electrical gap requires 1,000,000 volts to arc through air a 5 foot electrical gap requires 1,524,000 volts to arc through the air a 50 meter electrical gap requires 50,000,000 volts to arc through the air a 100 meter electrical gap requires 100,000,000 volts to arc through the air On this particular stun gun (Vipertek VTS-880-1) the arc 'show me' tongs are a mere 5... This is a cute little stun gun, and if it can be used to scare someone into non-violence then it will work for you."

He got closer to her while the other started to tell me that I was the one that needed to walk away. He pushed me and kept coming closer, I whipped the taser out and gave him a right good touch from Zeus himself... That's when these guys realized I had the smarts to have the elements on my side and they started to run away. I dropped my keys during the scruff and even the light on this little guy helped me find them."

I don't know if this would knock someone down per-say but I do feel good knowing this would give me a huge advantage in a fight. The rechargeable battery is great, I have test fired this thing many times for days on end and it keeps zapping, has a lot of juice! I bought this because of some unfriendly tenants in the house I live in and I feel comfortable to keep this in my pocket (without the case on) at all times, I have not yet shocked myself unintentionally and I don't believe I will... I taught her (amateur) proper technique for use as soon as I handed her the stun gun, which is important when giving someone something so powerful... discharge the stun gun for a loud noise, many thugs will run off at that. Also the noise would be good to scare away threatening wildlife (not to mention using this on wildlife if attacked."
"I cannot find anyone who will let me test this on them ha ha! However, just the sound and the little bright bolt of electricity it gives out should scare anyone... You simply plug it into the wall, the plug in just snaps out, there are no cords. It is small, which is perfect for my hands, and has a rubbery grip so I do not feel like I would drop it in a situation where I would need to use it... Very easy to carry for example if you are walking out to a parking lot, you can have your keys in one hand, this in the other and still be able to carry your purse and push a buggy. Doesn't add weight or bulk to your purse either, and it fits easily into a small jacket pocket. I wouldn't rely on this as my sole weapon of self-defense and of course common sense must prevail as to where you go and when, but this is a nice addition."
"Having read other reviews I would say maybe a critical thing to note is that it should not be dry fired for more than a second, as the instructions state clearly that it can/will damage the unit. Zapping it into the air to hear the crackle sounds cool but will leave you with an under-performing stun gun... The loop is not adequate for belt carry and the stun gun is difficult to get out of the case quickly. Easy enough to make or find something more functional and at the price offered, not a big deal spending a few bucks to upgrade. So, don't "play" with it and make or buy a better case and you will have a budget stun gun that still gets the job done. Even if you can't resist the urge to play, it's inexpensive and easily replaced if you break it, just remember to do that so you aren't relying on a compromised unit to get you out of a jam... If you need "something" to give an attacker pause but can't afford a better unit it will work."
"I have now purchased 5 of these devices. The first one I bought for my adult daughter who rides the bus to work just as a precaution... She didn't even have to use it - just showing she had it was enough. The second one I bought for a friend going through a bitter divorce with a violent husband... I personally have two of them - one in my car console and one in my purse... and the company security guard goes home at midnight - I just like to know when hubby is there at 2 or 3 in the morning and he's walking to his car alone that he also has protection if it's needed. Great little product I highly recommend in this crazy world of ours."
