Casio Men's W800H-1AV Classic Sport Watch with Black Band

Very Quick

"Great price: For the value alone I give it the 5-star rating Cons: 1) Bezel around the crystal is flush with the surface of the crystal - this could lead to scratches if you're not careful 2) Light is not the back lighting "Illuminator" of some other Casio watches - it's green glow that lights from the bottom-left of the display - kinda meh but it does stay on for a few seconds after depressing."

"I work in the deli department of a specialty grocery store and I date everything I touch throughout the day, so I chose this watch because of its large display of the day of the week and full date, both extremely handy and easy to read at a glance."

"I like that the Time function display shows the weekday and full date, without having to press a button."

"* Looks cheap (which I list as a plus above, but it may also be career limiting because I work at a major investment bank and everyone else has Veblen watches..."

"You can see the time, day of the week, year and date (month-day),and alarms on the display, no need to press any buttons to find them."

"Everything on it is more readable at a glance, it's also lighter, and it says it includes a "ten year battery" (I'll believe it when it see it--surely that depends on how often you use the nighttime illumination feature)."

"It's also true that my smart phone does all this stuff (and has a countdown function which occasionally I wish it had), BUT it's cheap and waterproof and I use it for sports (surfing, climbing, running) and get it scratched up and banged around a lot, without a second thought."

"Let's get to it: Pros: 1) Not as bulky as a G-Shock: If you're like me and you want a fully-functioning digital watch without the enormous bulk of a G-Shock, then this watch may fit your bill (even the midsize G-Shocks are tad too large in my book)... 2) Plenty of features: Dual time, stop-watch with split times, displays the time during the stop-watch function, date setup that knows the day of the week (accounts for leap year too), large display, snooze alarm (!... 3) Great price: For the value alone I give it the 5-star rating Cons: 1) Bezel around the crystal is flush with the surface of the crystal - this could lead to scratches if you're not careful 2) Light is not the back lighting "Illuminator" of some other Casio watches - it's green glow that lights from the bottom-left of the display - kinda meh but it does stay on for a few seconds after depressing."

"I work in the deli department of a specialty grocery store and I date everything I touch throughout the day, so I chose this watch because of its large display of the day of the week and full date, both extremely handy and easy to read at a glance... For what it's worth, the watch has an 18mm lug width so you can easily replace it with any inexpensive NATO or ZULU strap (though the band may cost more than the watch :)... Should it ever get scratched badly enough to really bother me, I'll just spend another $13 on a new one."

"The Calculators just don't hold up like they used to, especially to submersion, to the point that one barely lasts me a year or two... I like that the Time function display shows the weekday and full date, without having to press a button... This watch has the typical short list of functions, Time, Alarm, Stopwatch and (the completely useless) Dual Time."

"I was just hunting for a new watch to replace my broken one when I came across my old/current one that I bought from Amazon 18 months ago (hence writing a review now)... 5 seconds, regardless if you hold the light button or not not so good when trying to see the watch with blurry night eyes)... * Looks cheap (which I list as a plus above, but it may also be career limiting because I work at a major investment bank and everyone else has Veblen watches..."

"I've found the display on this watch to be very clear, crisp and easy to read at a glace, the screen is large and has all the information laid out nicely. You can see the time, day of the week, year and date (month-day),and alarms on the display, no need to press any buttons to find them... Another great feature is the dual time mode, the watch displays your current time in the bottom of the screen as well,so you can have both times easily visible."

"I hung onto an old Timex Datalink watch for a ridiculously long time because I couldn't find any other watch that lists the date like this and finally I gave up looking... Everything on it is more readable at a glance, it's also lighter, and it says it includes a "ten year battery" (I'll believe it when it see it--surely that depends on how often you use the nighttime illumination feature)... Here's a tip: On these cheap digital watches I ALWAYS replace the cheap, rubbery plastic watch band with a nicer looking, comfy fabric watchband (leather can work too) and that makes all the difference."

"It's so cheap, low profile, and has all the functions I actually need - time/date, alarm, stopwatch and a second time (my parents live overseas so it's nice to know when its actually appropriate to Skype)... It's also true that my smart phone does all this stuff (and has a countdown function which occasionally I wish it had), BUT it's cheap and waterproof and I use it for sports (surfing, climbing, running) and get it scratched up and banged around a lot, without a second thought... Like I mentioned, I'm pretty rough with it and when this occurred, I was getting into alpine climbing and was at > 12,000 feet for over 3 months, so not sure if it was because of the extended periods of cold or altitude."

"Strange thing is, you won't find any product information about it on Casio's US website. Let's get to it: Pros: 1) Not as bulky as a G-Shock: If you're like me and you want a fully-functioning digital watch without the enormous bulk of a G-Shock, then this watch may fit your bill (even the midsize G-Shocks are tad too large in my book)... 2) Plenty of features: Dual time, stop-watch with split times, displays the time during the stop-watch function, date setup that knows the day of the week (accounts for leap year too), large display, snooze alarm (!... 3) Great price: For the value alone I give it the 5-star rating Cons: 1) Bezel around the crystal is flush with the surface of the crystal - this could lead to scratches if you're not careful 2) Light is not the back lighting "Illuminator" of some other Casio watches - it's green glow that lights from the bottom-left of the display - kinda meh but it does stay on for a few seconds after depressing... 4) The watch does not allow you keep the light on by keeping the light button depressed... Can be quite irritating when you're trying to read the watch after waking up all blurry-eyed but I'm sure it's part of keeping that 10 year battery claim. In closing, this watch isn't gonna win any beauty contests, but it's functions, simplicity, and discrete look are what sold me."

"It may look a little dorky (my girlfriend described it as "birth control"), but it's a fantastically functional watch for the money. I work in the deli department of a specialty grocery store and I date everything I touch throughout the day, so I chose this watch because of its large display of the day of the week and full date, both extremely handy and easy to read at a glance. I like that the 10 year battery will likely outlast the watch, and the 10 bar water resistance is holding up well so far to daily immersions in a triple sink and a few swims in the ocean... For what it's worth, the watch has an 18mm lug width so you can easily replace it with any inexpensive NATO or ZULU strap (though the band may cost more than the watch :)... I think the only con worth mentioning is the soft acrylic crystal, which kind of sticks out from the rest of the watch face, so it is easily scratched. Should it ever get scratched badly enough to really bother me, I'll just spend another $13 on a new one. A final word about the time keeping- I've only had it a few weeks, but as near as I can tell using time."

"I tried this Casio Men's W800H-1AV "Classic" Sport Watch as an tougher alternative for vigorous activity to my favorite Casio Calculator style watch . The Calculators just don't hold up like they used to, especially to submersion, to the point that one barely lasts me a year or two... The watch is big, tho not outrageously so, and surprisingly inexpensive ($13+/- as of 3/2015), with an clear, intelligently layed out display that's perfectly readable. I like that the Time function display shows the weekday and full date, without having to press a button... The buttons are big and easy to push but rarely activate accidentally. This watch has the typical short list of functions, Time, Alarm, Stopwatch and (the completely useless) Dual Time... In decades of using Casios, I've never used Dual Time but have needed a countdown timer ocassionally."

"I was just hunting for a new watch to replace my broken one when I came across my old/current one that I bought from Amazon 18 months ago (hence writing a review now). Im debating if I should buy it again - its inexpensive and did the job, but I dont love it, I tolerated it, and it doesnt (/didnt) feel very sturdy (and it just broke, so that feeling was right)... * Its inexpensive: A replacement strap is 5USD from ebay, and a new watch is 14USD from Amazon, so if I decide to keep the watch it makes sense just to buy a new one... I leave it on permanently (really) so I think this is pretty poor - there hasnt really been any mechanical stress on the watch... 5 seconds, regardless if you hold the light button or not not so good when trying to see the watch with blurry night eyes). Is bascially impossible to do something like set the alarm etc in the dark because of this. * Looks cheap (which I list as a plus above, but it may also be career limiting because I work at a major investment bank and everyone else has Veblen watches..."

"I've been using this watch for the past week, I bought it to use when I'm working on the field and for my weekly hike which always lands me in a river... I can snorkel in the sea with this and just wash it with some fresh water when I'm done, with no problem. I've found the display on this watch to be very clear, crisp and easy to read at a glace, the screen is large and has all the information laid out nicely. You can see the time, day of the week, year and date (month-day),and alarms on the display, no need to press any buttons to find them. Also what I really like is, in the stopwatch mode, at the bottom of the screen there is the current time displayed. Another great feature is the dual time mode, the watch displays your current time in the bottom of the screen as well,so you can have both times easily visible. The light feature is also very nice, its basically a green led at the bottom left corner, however it does a great job at illuminating the entire screen."

"I was searching for a watch that lists the year, month and date in that order, because I number my journal entries in that order--from biggest to smallest (Year, month, day, time, then journal entry number). I hung onto an old Timex Datalink watch for a ridiculously long time because I couldn't find any other watch that lists the date like this and finally I gave up looking... I no longer used it for data storage, only to tell the time, and for that the Casio is terrific! Everything on it is more readable at a glance, it's also lighter, and it says it includes a "ten year battery" (I'll believe it when it see it--surely that depends on how often you use the nighttime illumination feature)... It's a relief knowing that if anything goes wrong with it I can easily get another. Here's a tip: On these cheap digital watches I ALWAYS replace the cheap, rubbery plastic watch band with a nicer looking, comfy fabric watchband (leather can work too) and that makes all the difference. Thank you Casio, for offering so much value to people on a budget!"

"I really like this watch for everyday use. It's so cheap, low profile, and has all the functions I actually need - time/date, alarm, stopwatch and a second time (my parents live overseas so it's nice to know when its actually appropriate to Skype)... It's true the lighting isn't even but this hasn't caused me to mis-read the numbers at anytime. It's also true that my smart phone does all this stuff (and has a countdown function which occasionally I wish it had), BUT it's cheap and waterproof and I use it for sports (surfing, climbing, running) and get it scratched up and banged around a lot, without a second thought. The functions work very simply and mostly intuitively if you've had similar watches before... Like I mentioned, I'm pretty rough with it and when this occurred, I was getting into alpine climbing and was at > 12,000 feet for over 3 months, so not sure if it was because of the extended periods of cold or altitude. Nonetheless, I liked it enough to get a second one, so we'll see."
