Casio Men's DW5600E-1V G-Shock Classic Digital Watch

Very Quick

"The four buttons are located on each corner of the case and I had no problem pressing any of them except for the "adjust" button, which is recessed so you don't accidentally bump it and reset the watch."

"I immediately went looking for a Casio, quickly found my way to this basic G-Shock, and less than a week after it came in the mail and I wore it a few times, I almost didn't want to put any of my other "luxury" watches back on because the Casio had quickly become one of my top favorites."

"It still seems built well, other than the top left adjust button is recessed a little more than the others (it was purposely designed this way) and the white "G Shock" and "protection" writing is actually more of a greyish hue compared to previous models; which doesn't matter to me because I also blacked it out to copy the much more expensive military version of the 5600e."

"I've only had my DW5600 for two days but I know it will serve as my accurate and durable timepiece for many new adventures to come."

"However, it just came down with a fatal problem that none of the cheaper Casio watches I've owned in the last 35 years have had before - the LCD display segments are burning out, making the watch unreadable :-((."

"However, keep in mind that the watch is new, and because I just started wearing it, I want to give the band some time to mold a bit to the shape of my wrist."

"-It has a back light, which is always a nice thing to have, just don't mess with it during hide n seek with your kids or friends, although it is tempting to time how long it takes you to get found."

Quick

"I realized that I didn't have a digital in my collection, and it just so happened that I had also been looking for a beater watch, something to just wear around casually... The four buttons are located on each corner of the case and I had no problem pressing any of them except for the "adjust" button, which is recessed so you don't accidentally bump it and reset the watch... Pressing the lower left button lets you scroll through the watches four modes: Time, alarm, countdown, and stop-watch."

"However I found the need to still have a beater watch with some functional capabilities that I could use in certain situations when working around the house or just getting dirty. I immediately went looking for a Casio, quickly found my way to this basic G-Shock, and less than a week after it came in the mail and I wore it a few times, I almost didn't want to put any of my other "luxury" watches back on because the Casio had quickly become one of my top favorites... A few were viable though, in that there wasn't the ability to have the background illumination on when setting alarms, or a few who noted the band had broken under common wear."

"I wanted a watch that I could wear all the time and not worry about, unlike my more expensive watches that I have ended up selling because I was always afraid of breaking them... I like to modify things so I have already converted mine to a reverse display (white numbers on black background- there are tutorials online how to do this) and when I had the case open it said "Casio China no jewels" so the movement is also made in China. It still seems built well, other than the top left adjust button is recessed a little more than the others (it was purposely designed this way) and the white "G Shock" and "protection" writing is actually more of a greyish hue compared to previous models; which doesn't matter to me because I also blacked it out to copy the much more expensive military version of the 5600e."

"A plus about this particular model is that the day, date, and time are displayed on the same screen... I appreciate the fact that the countdown timer in this model allows one to adjust the second, minute, and hour... I've only had my DW5600 for two days but I know it will serve as my accurate and durable timepiece for many new adventures to come."

"I've always loved how they function, and reliability - that's why I've stayed with them all these years, replacing countless bands until the watch was so beat up from me banging them around, I had to retire them... However, it just came down with a fatal problem that none of the cheaper Casio watches I've owned in the last 35 years have had before - the LCD display segments are burning out, making the watch unreadable :-((... This may not be the most expensive G-Shock they make, but it's a lot more than the lower end models I've always owned that NEVER had these problems..."

"However, keep in mind that the watch is new, and because I just started wearing it, I want to give the band some time to mold a bit to the shape of my wrist... I don't wear bulky watches and what I really like about this G-Shock is its conservative size: it fits great on my smaller wrist... - Current time is displayed in both the stopwatch and countdown timer mode."

"-A timer which is great for taking supplements I have it set for every 4 hours so I know to take my next dose of multi-vitamins and fish oil (you can also have it repeat, so if I wanted it to go off every minute I could) extremely easy to adjust... -It has a back light, which is always a nice thing to have, just don't mess with it during hide n seek with your kids or friends, although it is tempting to time how long it takes you to get found... -You can do basically anything with this watch attached to your wrist, you don't need to worry about breaking it."

Less Quick

"I realized that I didn't have a digital in my collection, and it just so happened that I had also been looking for a beater watch, something to just wear around casually... It didn't come in one of those cool gray tins that you see online, or even one of the bigger square black and red G-Shock boxes... The readout has a positive display and isn't clogged up with useless information, so it's very easy to read... The backlight is nice and bright, although I wish it would stay illuminated for longer than two seconds. The four buttons are located on each corner of the case and I had no problem pressing any of them except for the "adjust" button, which is recessed so you don't accidentally bump it and reset the watch. This is my biggest complaint about the watch, seeing how sometimes I have to take the watch off just press the adjust button... Pressing the lower left button lets you scroll through the watches four modes: Time, alarm, countdown, and stop-watch."

"I really didn't know what I could say positively in a review that hasn't already been said before... However I found the need to still have a beater watch with some functional capabilities that I could use in certain situations when working around the house or just getting dirty. I immediately went looking for a Casio, quickly found my way to this basic G-Shock, and less than a week after it came in the mail and I wore it a few times, I almost didn't want to put any of my other "luxury" watches back on because the Casio had quickly become one of my top favorites... I won't get into the specifics of why I like it, you can read any of the other nearly 300 positive reviews for it, but for all the basic reasons it is near perfect... What I found out is that most of them didn't like this watch for things that any informed consumer would've known prior to buying. Their complaints were somewhat subjective (too small display; too large on wrist; buttons too hard to push; functions not exactly to their liking; etc..... A few were viable though, in that there wasn't the ability to have the background illumination on when setting alarms, or a few who noted the band had broken under common wear."

"At first I bought a casio f91w which after a couple of days I noticed it had something rattling in it so I started looking for something a little more robust... I wanted a watch that I could wear all the time and not worry about, unlike my more expensive watches that I have ended up selling because I was always afraid of breaking them... I guess they no longer produce these in Taiwan, and it seems almost everything these days is now made in China. I like to modify things so I have already converted mine to a reverse display (white numbers on black background- there are tutorials online how to do this) and when I had the case open it said "Casio China no jewels" so the movement is also made in China. It still seems built well, other than the top left adjust button is recessed a little more than the others (it was purposely designed this way) and the white "G Shock" and "protection" writing is actually more of a greyish hue compared to previous models; which doesn't matter to me because I also blacked it out to copy the much more expensive military version of the 5600e... If you never use the backlight, it could last up to 10 years on the same battery, but either way you can find replacement batteries very cheap on ebay. All in all this watch is the perfect size and weight, feels great, and so far has taken quite a beating over the 2+ years I have used it and is living up to the G-Shock name."

"This is what my husband has to say: Been reading online for the past two weeks trying to figure out which watch to buy... When I got this bad boy out of the box, I was amazed by how much better it looks in person vs pictures online... I began setting the time and noticed the adjust button was recessed... A plus about this particular model is that the day, date, and time are displayed on the same screen... I appreciate the fact that the countdown timer in this model allows one to adjust the second, minute, and hour... I do not plan on using the alarm on this watch very often, but in the moments that I do, I like how it's not overly complicated i...

Repeat function on count down alarm takes getting used to - seems unnecessary and gets accidentally activated 2... Thought G-Shock would stand for a more reliable version of a watch from a great company, but I guessed wrong. I MAY try another G-Shock model, but if this is a trend, my 32 year loyalty to Casio will be sadly over :-(. *Update* I guess the battery ran out, at least I'm hoping - I tried to turn on the light and the whole display turned off...

"I say comfortable "enough" because I find the strap to be slightly uncomfortable on my own wrist (I'd give the strap a comfort rating of 7... However, keep in mind that the watch is new, and because I just started wearing it, I want to give the band some time to mold a bit to the shape of my wrist... I don't wear bulky watches and what I really like about this G-Shock is its conservative size: it fits great on my smaller wrist... - Current time is displayed in both the stopwatch and countdown timer mode... ) - The top left "Adjust" button is recessed. Many people (especially those with larger hands and fingers) report having a hard time pressing this button... I plan to get a more comfortable strap for this watch (one that makes my wrist feel like I'm not wearing a watch)."

"-Has an alarm that you could either set daily or have it only go off once at a certain time during the day or go off at the same time each day. -A timer which is great for taking supplements I have it set for every 4 hours so I know to take my next dose of multi-vitamins and fish oil (you can also have it repeat, so if I wanted it to go off every minute I could) extremely easy to adjust... -It has a back light, which is always a nice thing to have, just don't mess with it during hide n seek with your kids or friends, although it is tempting to time how long it takes you to get found. Cons: -The top right button listed as the "adjust" option is a little more hard to push then the other three... I have pretty long arm hair, it sometimes gets caught on it, much like a belt gets caught on your belly hair (if you know what I mean) -Extremely cheep it is a great watch for any age, ranging from kid to adult... -You can do basically anything with this watch attached to your wrist, you don't need to worry about breaking it... Smart phones are not watches, save your phone some batteries and just place a time telling mechanism on your wrist so you don't constantly have to whip out your phone."
