Bayer Advantage II, Large Cat, Over 9-Pound, 6-Month

Very Quick

"I was very nervous to try this product because for a while I had boycotted flea drops because a few years ago I attempted to put a DIFFERENT kind of flea drop on my cats and one of them had very adverse side-effects."

"After three times of spraying the whole apartment with Siphotrol and two (3 week interval) applications of Advantage and fleas are pretty much gone."

"I did find a few fleas on my dogs after about three weeks, although they were barely moving, but I believe they were jumping off the cats because my dogs have very short hair and you can see their skin, so I went ahead and applied the medication one week early on all my pets and haven't seen a flea since."

"OK I had to come back and ADD to my review, it has been a couple months and my cats have had 4 treatments each (2-4 month boxes) and the fleas SEEM to be gone, i have been washing their bedding (blanket on couch where they sleep, vacuuming (not as much as I should) and so far dont see a reason to give them another treatment which I do have another (3rd box) that I thought I would need but they stopped itching since I purchased, so I did bump up the rating..."

"But, if you're having the same problem with your cat that I'm having with mine, you might want to consider the two possibilities above, whichever one fits your circumstances (or both), to get rid of the flea problem."

"Fleas are hard enough to get rid of that once other products don't work you are going to just get this anyways and in the mean time your cat might spread fleas to the other animals or the rest of the house."

"It's been about 16 hours since I applied the advantage II, and i've just inspected the sheet very closely with a strong flashlight, and I see ONE speck of flea dirt on this bright white sheet."

"Like people, cats can have their own allergies and if you have any concerns over this product I would definitely recommend talking to your vet first... I was very nervous to try this product because for a while I had boycotted flea drops because a few years ago I attempted to put a DIFFERENT kind of flea drop on my cats and one of them had very adverse side-effects... I do not use Advantage every since month because the problem is very rare to come up as I vacuum regularly and they don't go outside."

"After three times of spraying the whole apartment with Siphotrol and two (3 week interval) applications of Advantage and fleas are pretty much gone... This product seems to do the job, but since I have used many products in our apartment this year, I feel that giving the product a 5 might not be accurate. I definitely saw a huge decline in fleas after my first application of Advantage (which was a couple days before using Siphotrol)."

"I vacuumed like crazy constantly and bought the Raid spray in the purple can and sprayed everywhere, which will not hurt your pets and finally got rid of the fleas within a little over a month. I did find a few fleas on my dogs after about three weeks, although they were barely moving, but I believe they were jumping off the cats because my dogs have very short hair and you can see their skin, so I went ahead and applied the medication one week early on all my pets and haven't seen a flea since. I also believe that because my pets and home were so infested that it took a little bit longer to get rid of the fleas than it would have if they had been being treated all along with the medication."

"I used night lights around the house with pans of soapy water(we did catch a lot of fleas this way-9 at the most one night in my sons room) so this does work-it helps... I believe I was just not consistent enough with the vacuuming as many said you HAVE to be vacuuming 1-2 times a day, yet with the salt method it was recommended to vacuum every three days...... OK I had to come back and ADD to my review, it has been a couple months and my cats have had 4 treatments each (2-4 month boxes) and the fleas SEEM to be gone, i have been washing their bedding (blanket on couch where they sleep, vacuuming (not as much as I should) and so far dont see a reason to give them another treatment which I do have another (3rd box) that I thought I would need but they stopped itching since I purchased, so I did bump up the rating..."

"Naturally, when I current cat got fleas for the first time in December 2012, I immediately purchased a 6-month supply expecting it to work beautifully again... And, this HAS to be the case, especially since I've been seeing more fleas lately despite using the Advantage as directed: My vet said they've been seeing resistance to Advantage!... But, if you're having the same problem with your cat that I'm having with mine, you might want to consider the two possibilities above, whichever one fits your circumstances (or both), to get rid of the flea problem."

"I did eventually find some on her tail, which is the furthest away from the application, so I did a second dose (can do 2 in two weeks the first time)... Fleas are hard enough to get rid of that once other products don't work you are going to just get this anyways and in the mean time your cat might spread fleas to the other animals or the rest of the house... The only thing I would say is check with your local vet because I have read that in certain areas fleas are becoming immune to certain products due to overuse."

"I was scared to apply this to my cat, but i'm getting torn up with flea bites and so is he... It's been about 16 hours since I applied the advantage II, and i've just inspected the sheet very closely with a strong flashlight, and I see ONE speck of flea dirt on this bright white sheet. He had been sitting in that spot all day today sleeping, and I inspected it when he got up to go get something to eat."

When my cats flea problem re-occurred and the flea collars, sprays and everything else just didn't work I had to break down and try Advantage... I do not use Advantage every since month because the problem is very rare to come up as I vacuum regularly and they don't go outside. I usually use this product for 2 months in a row (until my box is empty) and then my cats are flea free for the next few months after that. I do not know how effective this product would be for an outdoor cat but I know it has worked wonders for my animals and I would highly recommend it... They don't seem to want to lick it but you have to be very careful because sometimes cats are sneaky."

"We started using Frontline on both of our cats with little results (there seemed to be a little relief for a couple days)... After three times of spraying the whole apartment with Siphotrol and two (3 week interval) applications of Advantage and fleas are pretty much gone... I noticed one flea on my cat last night and today (11/16/13) makes 4 weeks from last dose of Advantage and spray of Siphotrol... This product seems to do the job, but since I have used many products in our apartment this year, I feel that giving the product a 5 might not be accurate. I definitely saw a huge decline in fleas after my first application of Advantage (which was a couple days before using Siphotrol)... I plan to continue using Siphotrol (probably once every 2 months) and Advantage (once a month) throughout the year and will update if I see any negative changes... The reason for the 'duplicate' review is that I honestly don't know which product brought us the most relief and feel that it was probably the combination of the two that 'saved' us."

"I had used another flea product for years and for some reason it just stopped working. I have two cats that stay indoors but I have two indoor dogs that I take outside to use the bathroom and let them walk around in the backyard, so they aren't outside very long but I do keep flea medication on them... I finally got online and after reading all reviews on different flea medications chose this for my cats and the Bayer Advantage II Green for my dogs. I vacuumed like crazy constantly and bought the Raid spray in the purple can and sprayed everywhere, which will not hurt your pets and finally got rid of the fleas within a little over a month. I did find a few fleas on my dogs after about three weeks, although they were barely moving, but I believe they were jumping off the cats because my dogs have very short hair and you can see their skin, so I went ahead and applied the medication one week early on all my pets and haven't seen a flea since. I also believe that because my pets and home were so infested that it took a little bit longer to get rid of the fleas than it would have if they had been being treated all along with the medication... I highly recommend this flea medication to anyone looking for a flea killer and it also did not leave my pets' fur greasy like my other medication did."

"Over several months time I have tried salt, food grade diatomatous earth and baking soda (different times) sprinkled on my carpets-many swear by it-helped but not as much as I would like..... I used night lights around the house with pans of soapy water(we did catch a lot of fleas this way-9 at the most one night in my sons room) so this does work-it helps... I believe I was just not consistent enough with the vacuuming as many said you HAVE to be vacuuming 1-2 times a day, yet with the salt method it was recommended to vacuum every three days...... A friend (also very "natural" told me that sometimes we have to resort to the "chemicals" after major contemplation I caved and purchased this Advantage II ...... I am not sure I want to invest more into another product or try another week with this one?? Out of options =( I am going to try to bathe them again-that did help but just want the FLEAS to BE GONE for good!...

When I consulted with my vet, she said one of two things could be happening, so I decided to pass along her thoughts to you... My cat's system got used to the Advantage so that it just doesn't work well for him anymore. That's not the case here because December 2012 is the first time my cat EVER had fleas... And, this HAS to be the case, especially since I've been seeing more fleas lately despite using the Advantage as directed: My vet said they've been seeing resistance to Advantage!... My vet recommended another product that is supposed to eliminate not just fleas, but heart worm and ear mites... But, if you're having the same problem with your cat that I'm having with mine, you might want to consider the two possibilities above, whichever one fits your circumstances (or both), to get rid of the flea problem."

"Tried a cheaper brand once my dogs brought fleas into the house and they got on our indoor cat... So my cheaper option became more expensive because I ended up buying this on top of the money I spent on the other product, I wish I had just done in the first place. Three days after the first treatment she was down to about 1 flea per square inch... I did eventually find some on her tail, which is the furthest away from the application, so I did a second dose (can do 2 in two weeks the first time)... I had a friend that did the same thing as me, where her cat got fleas she bought the same off brand treatment to the same results...

"Last month, I went el cheapo and purchased Pet Armour Flea drops from Walmart... I was scared to apply this to my cat, but i'm getting torn up with flea bites and so is he... I wanted to give him the bare minimum in case he had another reaction. My cat didn't even bat an eye upon application of this product, and he seems fine today... I have white sheets on my couch and loveseat where he sits, so I can monitor the "flea dirt"...
