Trash bags don't provide the odor control that Playtex has, and the generic brands aren't as sturdy... The Playtex brand is sturdy & reliable & I don't have to worry that they're going to split open or not work properly. This 3 pack is a great deal--certainly cheaper than what you'd find at local stores. My daughter is now almost a year and one refill seems to be lasting about 3-4 weeks for morning & evening diapers only...
