I find he loves the "hunt" aspect of play and having the ball(s) disappear on the other side of the vertical arrangement works better than perhaps the other toys I viewed which contained a single ball that was completely visible on a horizontal track... "* I wanted an interactive toy that did not require me pushing "start" and that the cat could engage with on his time whenever he felt it was playtime. I was hesitant at first because I had to show the cat how to use it by batting the balls around- but he caught on beautifully... Cat loves this toy and will jump from one side to the other as he engages with the balls. The three levels are innovative and entertaining and he will sometimes use one level more than another. They prevent total anarchy, but with a cat who likes to engage this thing, they basically just slow down the inevitable slide...
