Loud to the point that I'm not sure you can comfortably drown the noise out with your music... The only purpose of these gears, which are meshed to each other and to nothing else in the unit, is to spin freely, a task which they absolutely refuse to complete for more than a moment at a time... But that's actually okay, because-- #1 NO AUDIO COMES THROUGH THE SPEAKERS ANYWAY... Bought an Insignia brand adapter from Best Buy the same day, which worked right out of the box and made zero noise."
