"It is also noticeably smaller than the original filter, which is probably one of the reasons why it got moldy so quickly.""The humidifiers have been great, I bought a new one simply because I stored my old one in a storage area over the summer and it was dusty, since I run it almost 24/7 in the winter I wanted something I know was free of dust."
"It just had a build up on it after the winter that I could not wash off (because I used regular tap water) - and that's the only reason, why I got a new one."
"I imagine that positive review on here is either for a different version of the filter, from a different company, or is a misallocation of this company's money from fixing the quality to hiding the horrible quality in an attempt to make money off chumps like me."
"They only last about a month for me and then they start getting hard with pink and black yucky stuff on them, which is expected."
"* Not sure if it's NYC tap water or what but mine didn't hold up very long and started browning after only a few days of continuous use."

"* It does its job for about a month before getting moldy. It is also noticeably smaller than the original filter, which is probably one of the reasons why it got moldy so quickly. The one I got with my humidifier lasted 2 months.""I ended up purchasing another humidifier in Oct '15 (same one) and used the last of the 3 filters I had purchased. The humidifiers have been great, I bought a new one simply because I stored my old one in a storage area over the summer and it was dusty, since I run it almost 24/7 in the winter I wanted something I know was free of dust... You CAN NOT let the humidity run dry or the top of your filter will dry out and stop absorbing water."
"It just had a build up on it after the winter that I could not wash off (because I used regular tap water) - and that's the only reason, why I got a new one... After not using it for about a day, I looked into the humidifier and the filter was moldy... Someone said in a review that they called Honeywell and was told, that they had to make it thinner to fit different humidifier models."
"I imagine that positive review on here is either for a different version of the filter, from a different company, or is a misallocation of this company's money from fixing the quality to hiding the horrible quality in an attempt to make money off chumps like me... ) The material used isn't not the same as the original filter (the original lasted months with proper care... 4th night of using it in our baby's room and there was a weird, acrid, moldy smell coming directly from the filter."
"* These filters work great in the humidifier for which they are designed. They only last about a month for me and then they start getting hard with pink and black yucky stuff on them, which is expected. It does make you wonder what they were thinking when they put germ free on the humidifier that uses them."
"* Not sure if it's NYC tap water or what but mine didn't hold up very long and started browning after only a few days of continuous use... I also purchased the RPS #HW500 Extended Life Wick Filter and I definitely recommend it over this one. Lasted a lot longer, cheaper, and made out of much better quality materials w/ reinforcement."

"* I purchased my first humidifier off amazon Dec '14 and love it, it ran great and I purchased 3 filters for it over the past year. I ended up purchasing another humidifier in Oct '15 (same one) and used the last of the 3 filters I had purchased. The humidifiers have been great, I bought a new one simply because I stored my old one in a storage area over the summer and it was dusty, since I run it almost 24/7 in the winter I wanted something I know was free of dust... You CAN NOT let the humidity run dry or the top of your filter will dry out and stop absorbing water... The filters work great collecting both dust (you can visibly see this) and water residue... When it stays dry no matter how much water you put on it, and is dusty it's time to get a new one... A correctly working filter should be completely wet and as long as you don't run the humidifier dry it should stay that way.""* As others have stated: buyers beware!!!... It just had a build up on it after the winter that I could not wash off (because I used regular tap water) - and that's the only reason, why I got a new one... First I didn't think about it much, but I tried to rinse it carefully and it already got some holes and was tearing apart where the ends are glued together... After not using it for about a day, I looked into the humidifier and the filter was moldy... Especially when the description says that the filter itself should prevent growth of "mold, fungus and bacteria"... Someone said in a review that they called Honeywell and was told, that they had to make it thinner to fit different humidifier models... I also could live with the thinner one, but in no way does the thickness justify the mold growth!"
"* Few things have felt like more of a rip-off than these filters. I bought one through Amazon Prime where this version was the only one available... Do not, under any circumstance buy this brand of filter... I imagine that positive review on here is either for a different version of the filter, from a different company, or is a misallocation of this company's money from fixing the quality to hiding the horrible quality in an attempt to make money off chumps like me... The construction is extremely poor (they used glue instead of stitching) The material itself doesn't absorb as much water (room doesn't humidify as quickly. ) The material used isn't not the same as the original filter (the original lasted months with proper care... 4th night of using it in our baby's room and there was a weird, acrid, moldy smell coming directly from the filter."
"* These filters work great in the humidifier for which they are designed. They only last about a month for me and then they start getting hard with pink and black yucky stuff on them, which is expected. It does make you wonder what they were thinking when they put germ free on the humidifier that uses them. If you do not use the humidifier continuously the filter dries out and has to be soaked again. Cool mist humidifiers must not have been perfected yet! I even use the little things every time I change the filter in the water tank... There is no way to clean that I am aware of..."
