"I'd made the mistake of trying Hanes one year, but they started fraying at the waistband and around the legs within a couple of months, and the one and only time I bought colored briefs they didn't even make it out of the bag - I know his "NOPE - AIN'T HAPPENIN'!""Congratulations, FOTL, now you are just like the other brands that don't fit well and wear out fast..."
"I would purchase more of these again (if forced to) rather than the competing brand for the men in my household, simply because these are cheaper (cost wise) than the other brand - at least at the time of my purchase as well as at the time of this review."
"They wear well and are not too tight or too lose (again my opinion) These FTL briefs feel so comfortable you almost forget you have them on!"
"* I have had a size 34" waist for almost 2 decades and have always worn medium FTL briefs (32-34 inches) and they were always perfect fits."
"One of the seven pairs in the package was less stretchy in the waist than the other six, for some reason, and is a bit un-comfy."
"These supposedly Medium-sized briefs are approximately the same size as older FotL shorts I still have except for the crotches which are all one to one-and-a-half inches lower."

I keep telling them that believe it or not buying men's underwear is not my favorite past time & that it's not my fault that underwear manufacturers forgot the purpose of their product and they now make them to be more irritating than functioning."

"* It's interesting that so many reviews complain that the Fruit of the Loom briefs are too small as I'm having the opposite problem. These supposedly Medium-sized briefs are approximately the same size as older FotL shorts I still have except for the crotches which are all one to one-and-a-half inches lower. They don't hold "things" in when wearing them alone and with pants on, the extra material bunches up uncomfortably."

"These 100% cotton briefs do shrink though (we buy the XL, which end up @ 1-1/2" shorter in length and lose @ 1-2" in the waistband than when you first take them out of the package. ) It was such a great move when they went tag-free years ago, and though I realize boxers and trunks are more popular (at least according to my adult sons, who wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of these briefs!... I'd made the mistake of trying Hanes one year, but they started fraying at the waistband and around the legs within a couple of months, and the one and only time I bought colored briefs they didn't even make it out of the bag - I know his "NOPE - AIN'T HAPPENIN'!... (He probably could've worn them a lot longer, but as mothers have been admonishing for eons, you always want to have on decent looking underwear just in case you get into an accident!""At first we thought maybe they put the wrong size labels on the pack of Large he got (at Walmart), and returned them... So now (and for the past year and a half), the waist bands and leg openings are either too small on the Large ones (used to fit 38-40, now re-sized as 36-38), and the leg openings are way too big on X-Large ones (used to fit 42-44, now re-sized as 40-42). They also seem to be either shorter in the rise, or higher on the leg, or the crotch is too long, or something... Why couldn't you have just kept them the same and called them "Classic", and put out a new re-sized line for "Modern" (or some such word..... Congratulations, FOTL, now you are just like the other brands that don't fit well and wear out fast... which was why he was a loyal customer for DECADES: because your underwear USED TO FIT, and it used to last for a few years. Thanks for restyling and destroying what has worked for my husband (and so many other men from what I've read) for 50+ years."
"* I have reviewed my 2 other men's underwear purchases (a different brand) and the Fruit of the Loom is about the same as those 2 reviews... They fit as far as size goes, but not well - it's hard to describe - the fit is just 'off' - not the right snugness in the right places. I would purchase more of these again (if forced to) rather than the competing brand for the men in my household, simply because these are cheaper (cost wise) than the other brand - at least at the time of my purchase as well as at the time of this review. Since I have the choice of voting with my dollar, however, I am planning on trying some different brands - just to see if I can get better quality. I'm tired of buying underwear so much more often than I used to have to, just because the quality of the material has sunk so low... I keep telling them that believe it or not buying men's underwear is not my favorite past time & that it's not my fault that underwear manufacturers forgot the purpose of their product and they now make them to be more irritating than functioning... There has to be somebody out there that still knows how to make underwear that last longer than a disposable brief."
"* I was in the market for new underwear last year, but never thought I would be wearing briefs again. Like most guys my age, I wore briefs when I was younger and then wore boxers. But a few years ago I realized I missed wearing briefs so I tried Hanes briefs and did not like them at all, they just didn t feel right to me... They feel so much better then Hanes briefs (my opinion) and they also feel softer. They wear well and are not too tight or too lose (again my opinion) These FTL briefs feel so comfortable you almost forget you have them on! They wash very well, and always look like new which is something I was not expecting... As far as sizing goes look at the size chart and order your NORMAL waist size, as that is how you will get the best fit."
"* I have had a size 34" waist for almost 2 decades and have always worn medium FTL briefs (32-34 inches) and they were always perfect fits... Because they tend to last somewhere between 7-10 years, I had not bought any since 2010. The old stock was getting a bit worse for the wear, so I ordered a 7-pack. I was shocked to see how much smaller they are now... They tend to stretch after a while, so I will keep and use them. I also noticed that they are a lot thinner than they used to be. This seems to be in line with most other recent reviews."
"I normally buy Hanes XXXL, but the deal on these FOTLs was too good to pass up... One of the seven pairs in the package was less stretchy in the waist than the other six, for some reason, and is a bit un-comfy. The weave of the cotton seems to be a tad more open and a bit lighter weight than Hanes. I don't know if that will translate to a shorter life, but it might make them cooler with better air flow... The elastic waist band could stand to be a bit wider for comfort... I just got these, so I can't yet report concerning durability or shrinkage from washing... I have received NO compensation of any kind for this review, and I'm not affiliated with Amazon, the manufacturer or the seller."

They don't hold "things" in when wearing them alone and with pants on, the extra material bunches up uncomfortably... This isn't the only brand I've noticed this problem in either. I threw away most of a new pack of Hanes briefs for the same reason. Perhaps these will shrink in the wash and get better (the Hanes didn't). I don't know, maybe this is how hipsters like to wear underpants these days."
