Quick

"I've had them for two years and they've been used weekly on my golden retriever and the blades are still sharp. I ordered the small/medium size when she was a puppy and it was nice to have clippers to match the size of her paws... I'm tall (6' woman) with larger than average hands and if/when I order another one I'll get the large size."

"I was reluctant to spend the six dollar price because I figured that for that low of a price we'd end up buying another pair from a different company and would be just wasting the money... We just used these on our elderly Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mix who, like most other dogs is averse to having her nails clipped... This particular model is perfect for small to medium dogs depending on how thick your dog's nails are and how much effort is required to cut through them."

"I had been using human nail clippers, but realized those were really not the best choice... I was nervous ordering these types of clippers thinking they would be too big for my small dog, but they worked perfectly and feel they were actually much easier to use than the human nail clippers... I also like that it has a lock on it to keep them closed when not in use."

"I keep these on my end table hoping to grab it whenever my cats seem to be "in the mood" for a quick nail clipping, but I feel like these take a while to line up properly so I don't cut too short. I do like the "stopper" that is to prevent cutting to short, but if my first clip is too little then I worry I'm going to go too deep the second time. I guess that's not the fault of the trimmer but rather user error, but I just feel that it takes me longer to "line up" the nail with these trimmers."

"It was so bad with the previous clippers I'd have to do one nail a day, if that!... Because they are so sharp I can cut through his black nails and easily see the gray circle indicating his quick... I've used these clippers for a few months and they're still very sharp."

"I have a larger dog with very strong nails and was terrified to cut them since I had tried with other nail clippers and couldn't get through the nail... Since I didn't bring her shot record, they couldn't do it right away, but one of the groomers recommended that I buy a Safari Nail Trimmer for Dogs and give it a try since it isn't one of those crazy expensive nail trimmers. She said it was the only one she used and she had been using it for years, so I ordered on Amazon and guess what?"

"* I've been searching for a good pair of nail clippers for my cat, Ramses, since he's been with me, which has been nine years. I started out with the standard, scissor-type clippers, but I was constantly disappointed with them, even as I tried different brands and higher degrees of quality... Finally, I saw a pair of the Safari clippers at a friend's house during a visit over Thanksgiving; since she's owned several cats over her lifetime, from kittenhood through end-of-life, and recommended the Safari, I trusted her opinion."

Less Quick

"I've had them for two years and they've been used weekly on my golden retriever and the blades are still sharp. I ordered the small/medium size when she was a puppy and it was nice to have clippers to match the size of her paws. Easy to clip her nails without accidentally taking too much... I never get them wet and keep them clean (stored in a ziplock bag) so they shouldn't be rusting. Kinda disappointing but they were super cheap and have lasted 2 years with regular use, and their functionality will likely outlast my patience with the rust. I'm tall (6' woman) with larger than average hands and if/when I order another one I'll get the large size. My golden is full grown now so hopefully the bigger size won't be too big, but the longer handle will be more comfortable for my hands."

"I was reluctant to spend the six dollar price because I figured that for that low of a price we'd end up buying another pair from a different company and would be just wasting the money. Finally, after reviewing reviews and reading the Q&A, we decided that it was worth the gamble to spend six bucks. We just used these on our elderly Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mix who, like most other dogs is averse to having her nails clipped... They are sharp, easy to use and do not crush the nail but cut it smoothly and evenly. Get these while they're on sale and you'll be glad you did; If you miss the sale get them anyway and you'll be glad you did... This particular model is perfect for small to medium dogs depending on how thick your dog's nails are and how much effort is required to cut through them. A larger dog's nails will require more leverage even with very sharp clippers so a larger set would be advisable."

"I had been using human nail clippers, but realized those were really not the best choice... However, dog nails are round and human clippers will potentially compress the nail in a bad way. Pet clippers are made with a rounded blade and cut the nail much better. I was nervous ordering these types of clippers thinking they would be too big for my small dog, but they worked perfectly and feel they were actually much easier to use than the human nail clippers... That moves out of the way though so you can cut simply by eye. My puppy has tons of hair on his feet, I found it a lot easier to get his feet wet before I clipped him... I also like that it has a lock on it to keep them closed when not in use."

"* I like this nail trimmers but I wish my cats did! I keep these on my end table hoping to grab it whenever my cats seem to be "in the mood" for a quick nail clipping, but I feel like these take a while to line up properly so I don't cut too short. I do like the "stopper" that is to prevent cutting to short, but if my first clip is too little then I worry I'm going to go too deep the second time. I guess that's not the fault of the trimmer but rather user error, but I just feel that it takes me longer to "line up" the nail with these trimmers. They do trim well most of the time, but sometimes I feel the nail gets crushed a bit and it splits. I was hoping this would help make this chore easier but it hasn't... And, as mentioned, there is the safety "stopper" so you don't cut too much, but you can't rely solely on the stopper."

"* I thought that buying a nail clipper for a large dog is not hard... After previously using similar nail clippers that became dull after one use, I purchased these clippers... It was so bad with the previous clippers I'd have to do one nail a day, if that!... These clippers are so smooth and sharp, you don't need a lot of force to cut... Because they are so sharp I can cut through his black nails and easily see the gray circle indicating his quick... And because they cut so smoothly I can do his nails quickly and he doesn't mind a 5 minute nail session where I cut 10 nails. I've used these clippers for a few months and they're still very sharp."

"I have a larger dog with very strong nails and was terrified to cut them since I had tried with other nail clippers and couldn't get through the nail. I was afraid to hurt my puppy by trying too hard, so I went to the pet groomer. Since I didn't bring her shot record, they couldn't do it right away, but one of the groomers recommended that I buy a Safari Nail Trimmer for Dogs and give it a try since it isn't one of those crazy expensive nail trimmers. She said it was the only one she used and she had been using it for years, so I ordered on Amazon and guess what? This thing works like a dream!! Not that I dream about trimming my dog's nails, mind you. But it you have a pet that needs nails trimmed, you definitely want to buy a Safari."

"* I've been searching for a good pair of nail clippers for my cat, Ramses, since he's been with me, which has been nine years. I started out with the standard, scissor-type clippers, but I was constantly disappointed with them, even as I tried different brands and higher degrees of quality. No matter which ones I used, Ramses' claws would continue to shred after clipping, coming apart vertically from the root and shredding into layers like an onion... In fact, even though I used the clippers properly, cutting Ramses' claws at the correct angle, the shredding seemed to get even worse. Finally, I saw a pair of the Safari clippers at a friend's house during a visit over Thanksgiving; since she's owned several cats over her lifetime, from kittenhood through end-of-life, and recommended the Safari, I trusted her opinion... However, it has cleared up on several of his claws, leaving only the worst offenders which still need to heal... I just wish I'd started with the Safari clippers in the first place."
