"I haven't tried another mesh system so for all I know anther system would be working just as good, but google products have always left a good impression on me and this one doesn't disappoint!""My home networking requirements are not especially complex, but I do have to main areas where there a lot of wired computers/devices, and need a good, fast connection between them - the living room, and my office area."
"There used to be many places that were so weak you either had dropouts or unable to connect at all."
"With three pucks spaced more or less evenly around the U of my house, I haven't lost control of a single bulb or had one drop off the network (an almost daily occurrence), I have zero dead spots throughout the house and back deck/pool area with my phone, the response times from everything including Alexa is noticeably faster, and my speed test numbers jumped from the 500s to the 800s..."
"I didn t have any expectations so this breezy setup was a huge relief after the failure of a 3-year-old AirPort Extreme that Apple refused to service, suggesting I buy a new one that they also won t support for long."
"There's only one LAN port on it, but you can connect a switch/hub/router to that if you need more hard line connections in one location."
"It s a known problem now that I have searched the google Wifi forum."

"Despite having a beefy router/modem combo Netgear unit, it just wasn't able to give a reliable connection to our living room tv; enough that we just were not able to stream netflix or other apps without giving us headaches... I haven't tried another mesh system so for all I know anther system would be working just as good, but google products have always left a good impression on me and this one doesn't disappoint!... Also, I don't mean to talk bad about another product, but the orbi system had an alarming amount of negative reviews about constantly dropping connection while google wifi had almost no reviews relating to that issue.""My home networking requirements are not especially complex, but I do have to main areas where there a lot of wired computers/devices, and need a good, fast connection between them - the living room, and my office area... In addition, several indepedent internet speed tests report slightly faster download/upload speeds than my old router setup - nothing over the top, it just seems to make better use of the bandwidth I'm paying for... I do wish configuration didn't rely on the app and could be done from a PC, but honestly, I'm never without my phone, so that's not that big of a deal."
"I had a Linksys router that simply was too wimpy for this house... I am sure there are potential customers that need a bit more help... There used to be many places that were so weak you either had dropouts or unable to connect at all."
"With three pucks spaced more or less evenly around the U of my house, I haven't lost control of a single bulb or had one drop off the network (an almost daily occurrence), I have zero dead spots throughout the house and back deck/pool area with my phone, the response times from everything including Alexa is noticeably faster, and my speed test numbers jumped from the 500s to the 800s..... but that's just time consuming and that's not the Google wifi's fault. I also recommend turning off the wifi radios in your existing router once you are done setting up the mesh network."
"The network worked, but not inside our trailer or inside our shop, which are the furthest away from house... I didn t have any expectations so this breezy setup was a huge relief after the failure of a 3-year-old AirPort Extreme that Apple refused to service, suggesting I buy a new one that they also won t support for long... These white pucks are light as air, I don t feature there s much inside, and I had to add Ethernet ports by purchasing separately."
"Didn't behave like the setup or basic troubleshooting instructions said it should: blinking (not pulsing) blue light for 30 minutes instead of 10-15 seconds, solid blue light for 30 minutes instead of 5-10 minutes, setup on the app couldn't connect to the unit, setup wifi network only appeared twice but never successfully connected in the app... It's also heavier than my current modem or router--both of which struggle to stay upright with their cables attached--so it shouldn't get pulled off the edge just by the weight of them... There's only one LAN port on it, but you can connect a switch/hub/router to that if you need more hard line connections in one location."
"* Very easy setup, but the darn thing just doesn t work very often... easy setup if you are into just setting stuff up... It s a known problem now that I have searched the google Wifi forum."

"Despite having a beefy router/modem combo Netgear unit, it just wasn't able to give a reliable connection to our living room tv; enough that we just were not able to stream netflix or other apps without giving us headaches... Just install the the google wifi app on a device, follow the instructions, and it will walk you through everything you need to do... Some people don't seem to like that you can only access the setting on the app but I think it's quite handy... You can test the internet speed in your home, the connection quality between point, and even the connection to every individual device currently accessing the internet. You can see which devices are connected to which wifi points and how much bandwidth they are using (each device also automatically connects to the nearest wifi point in real time)... I was almost to the point that I was ready to give up and just run Ethernet cable from the living room to the office, when by chance I saw the Google WiFi 3 pack was on sale... Setup is insanely easy - you just plug the the power into the first access point, connect it to your modem, and use the Android app to discover, configure it via QR code & confirm it's working... I also benefit from better coverage over the entire foot print of my house - very nice for when I'm outside and using a wireless device. In addition, several indepedent internet speed tests report slightly faster download/upload speeds than my old router setup - nothing over the top, it just seems to make better use of the bandwidth I'm paying for. Also, I make use of features like DHCP reservations & port forwarding - these are all easy to setup and configure via the app... I do wish configuration didn't rely on the app and could be done from a PC, but honestly, I'm never without my phone, so that's not that big of a deal."
"I had a Linksys router that simply was too wimpy for this house... There were many dead spots in the house and the garage had no coverage at all... I am an EE and maybe better to positioned to appreciate Google's triumphs than most are... you must deduce everything from the app... I am sure there are potential customers that need a bit more help... I have not found a place where the wifi signal is less than four bars !! There used to be many places that were so weak you either had dropouts or unable to connect at all."
"* With 30+ Lifx bulbs (all in recessed cans) both inside and outside my U shaped house along with three Amazon Echo devices, a laptop, a cell phone, and several smart plugs, my AT&T wifi could just not cut it... With three pucks spaced more or less evenly around the U of my house, I haven't lost control of a single bulb or had one drop off the network (an almost daily occurrence), I have zero dead spots throughout the house and back deck/pool area with my phone, the response times from everything including Alexa is noticeably faster, and my speed test numbers jumped from the 500s to the 800s... I'm getting the internet I paid for and now I can add more bulbs and that robot vacuum I've been wanting... plug the first one into your existing router, plug the power cord in, and the app does the thinking..... but that's just time consuming and that's not the Google wifi's fault. I also recommend turning off the wifi radios in your existing router once you are done setting up the mesh network... I was looking at the system that cost twice as much but now I'm twice as happy at half that price."
"The network worked, but not inside our trailer or inside our shop, which are the furthest away from house... I also wired my 3rd bedroom via Ethernet because, again, the cables were there from my old network. I don t want any signal issues as it s my home office, and the setup was so simple. I didn t need to tell the Google Wi-Fi app how to manage the Ethernet connections or the Ethernet switch (sold separately). I didn t have any expectations so this breezy setup was a huge relief after the failure of a 3-year-old AirPort Extreme that Apple refused to service, suggesting I buy a new one that they also won t support for long... These white pucks are light as air, I don t feature there s much inside, and I had to add Ethernet ports by purchasing separately... Maybe there s a knowledgeable hardware geekmaster who can explain why these cost so much (besides it being what the market will bear)."
"* I'm upgrading my single WiFi router to a mesh network to get better coverage in the garage and bedrooms... Spent an hour with Google Customer Support and was unable to get it working, so I'm returning it... Didn't behave like the setup or basic troubleshooting instructions said it should: blinking (not pulsing) blue light for 30 minutes instead of 10-15 seconds, solid blue light for 30 minutes instead of 5-10 minutes, setup on the app couldn't connect to the unit, setup wifi network only appeared twice but never successfully connected in the app... There was a plastic shrink wrap on the outside and that's not easily recyclable where I live, but that's the only packaging that isn't easily recycled... It's also heavier than my current modem or router--both of which struggle to stay upright with their cables attached--so it shouldn't get pulled off the edge just by the weight of them... The USB-C power connector seems like an odd choice, but does have the benefit of being simple to replace or swap out if you need something shorter or longer. There's only one LAN port on it, but you can connect a switch/hub/router to that if you need more hard line connections in one location."
"* Very easy setup, but the darn thing just doesn t work very often... I ve had it for about two months... Even with three of them in the same room, it still works poorly. Of course I am outside the return time or they would definitely be sent back... easy setup if you are into just setting stuff up. But don t count on this working all that great. It s a known problem now that I have searched the google Wifi forum."
