PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer - Fast-Heating, Handheld Design Perfect for Home and Travel

"This is my first experience with a portable steamer. I am not much of an ironer kind of gal, irons tend to scorch, so you set them lower, then you spend so much time going over the same shirt, over and over again at the lower temp. I figured I would try steam. It makes sense. I am really glad I got to try this product. It impressed me with it's performance. PROs: ## Size. Specs: steamer is 8 inches high, if measured from the tip of the steamer nozzle (height) to the bottom. The bottom, also the width point, measures 3.25 inches width. The top where water is filled is 2.25 inches at its width . The nozzle opening measures 2.75 inches (width) by .75 inches (height). The nozzle if measured from the top of the steamer handle and water basin to its steam openings, extends at a 78 angle, it is exactly 4 inches. The handle length is 4 inches as well, it is 1 inch by .5 inches thick, until it joins the base and power switch which measures 1.5 inches. There is a 1.5 inch gap between inside of the handle and steamer base. It weighs 1 lb empty, and 1 lb 5 ounces full. The nozzle steam holes are 3.18mm, there are 5 total. Thoughts: the steamer is the size of a standard travel mug in your hand. The handle is designed well and and is very comfortable, I gripped it at the knuckle joint with my finger pads, and rested my thumbs on the curve of the top of the handle (by the power switch). Because you need to keep the unit upright, it doesn't pose any problems to your wrist or elbow. Would be great for travelers. ## Power. 110 Volts, 60 Hz, 700 watts. The cord is 8 feet long. Within 2 minutes of switching the unit on, the steamer water reaches boiling point (212 F) which starts steam into full production. The steam is a combined plume of the 5 jets, which extend about 1 foot at that 78 angle. A full water tank will give 10 minutes of continuous steam. No button to push to activate steam / keep steaming. You just turn it on and it starts steaming, if you want it to stop you have to turn it off. When you unplug it the steam stops almost immediately Thoughts: The steam is HOT. This steamer generates steam, just like a tea kettle. It does not spit. This uses 110v power supply - you would be able to pack this while traveling, you would need a have separate converter as long as the unit supplies 120 volts ac and it is a high enough amperage for the unit, you could use it in India (220v) or Europe (240v). It is the perfect size, and stows away nicely on a shelf or in a cabinet (wrap the cord around the unit). ## Capacity. The steamer has a max capacity of 4.5 fluid oz. (I measured it), this is enough for one shirt, or 10 minutes of continuous steam. Thoughts: For the size, I think this is great. Must steam upright - no items that are laid flat. Cannot do a whole dress, without refilling. I did not have any leakage problems, but I kept it very straight. My first test was a dress I brought back from Hawaii, it was wrinkled, I hung the dress on a hook behind a door, and pulled out the dress with one hand while I steamed with the other - it worked great! What else can you steam? Clothing including jackets, suits, pants, shirts to remove wrinkles or to freshen. Bedding such heavy quilts, pillows, comforters to freshen, but allow to dry completely before stowing away. Draperies to remove wrinkles or freshen (just be aware of glass). The thicker fabrics take more patience however, and multiple refills. For delicate fabrics: Silk or Chiffon is such a delicate fabric... Easily damaged by heat and cannot take standard ironing, even on a low or silk-appropriate setting. Instead, wrinkled silk / chiffon requires delicate steaming. I would use this steamer on it but I would not get very close to the material. I would be patient and steam it from at least 6 inches away. Also, be very careful to keep the steamer upright at all times so no water leaks out onto the silk / chiffon. Fabrics or textiles that cannot take heat or moisture, should never be steamed. If a garment is labeled - dry clean only - steaming could damage or leave moisture spots on the fabric. And use caution when steaming, especially with colors that could run; best to test a small area inside a seam first. ## Auto Shutoff. Has a safety shutoff in case of a power surge. ## Two Year Warranty. Keep your paperwork. CONs: ## HOT. The steam is very hot. Never use this for a "facial" or for sanitization. Only for wrinkle removal of clothes. I would keep children, especially toddlers away from this appliance, the cord is so long and easy to grab, would be easy for them to burn or shock themselves. ## Can't tip. It would be so much better if you could tip this. Everything has to be hanging to steam. CONCLUSION: Although the steamer may be little, by most standards, this steamer has mighty performance. The size is an asset, especially for travelers. If you are looking for a starting point for electric steamers, without purchasing a huge model with all those attachments, the PureSteam might be a good place to get your feet wet. ** I received the PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer by Pure Enrichment in exchange for providing honest feedback - All views expressed here are of my own and not influenced as a result."

PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer - Fast-Heating, Handheld Design Perfect for Home and Travel (Compare Deals from $29.99)

"This portable steamer has some major advantages and a few disadvantages compared to larger models. In general, it is a great steamer if you need something quick and easy to get your daily clothes wrinkle-free before heading out into the world. It is very small and does not take up much room in your closet or cabinet, but it also doesn't hold very much water compared to larger, more traditional steamers. One fill-up is enough to steam 3 - 5 men's dress shirts (depending on how efficient you are), two dresses, or one top and a pair of pants. Be careful not to hold the steamer too close to your clothes (about 3 inches away is perfect) or they will get wet. The steamer must stay plugged in while operating, and while the cord isn't especially long it is plenty enough if you are standing near the outlet. My husband said that he preferred using this steamer to our other one (a commercial model) because it was easier to fill and use (because of the size and the limited number of garments you can steam on one fill), he even said "it doesn't feel as much like a chore. It could be just another step in my morning routine." That right there. Yes! With this product, my husband doesn't mind steaming his own clothes every day. PROs: - Very easy to use! I didn't even read the instructions. Completely intuitive. - Small size is great for storage and ease of use - One fill-up will steam several garments, your daily clothes - Heats up very fast, ready to go in just a couple of minutes (faster than a tea kettle) - Effective. Just a few passes over the fabric at a distance of 2-3 inches and wrinkles disappear - Husband thinks it is so easy he wants to do it himself CONs: - Must remain plugged in while using and the cord requires you to be closer to the outlet than our other model - Cannot steam a whole load of laundry at one time - The steam comes out very fast after the water heats up and there's only one setting, so you need to be ready to start steaming within just a couple of minutes of turning it on or you will waste the water and possibly have to refill sooner than you want - Gets fabric very wet if you happen to get too close I would recommend this product to people who want something quick and easy for daily steaming. I imagine it would be great for bachelors and college students or anyone whose lifestyle involves limited space and time to spend on laundry. I think it would be less good for families or people who want to steam larger amounts of clothes/fabric at one time. While I hoped this product might be able to replace our larger commercial model, I don't think that will be the case. BUT I think we will probably use this steamer more than our other one simply because of how easy and fast it is. This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review, but even at $30+ on Amazon it is still much less expensive than a larger steamer and much better than an iron/ironing board."

"I have never used a Clothes Steamer before, but had heard much good about them, so when offered this PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer at a reduced cost in exchange for testing and unbiased review, I quickly accepted. I cannot get over the Ease Of Use and Excellent Job of Removing Wrinkles this little machine offers! It's very well made of Durable Parts and Pure Enrichment has added great features such as the Diagram that shows you which way to turn the top that is molded right on the surface... The Cut Out Window is very attractive and I can easily see when I have filled it halfway as recommended in the Easy to Understand Instruction Booklet... The On/Off Button lights up when you plug it in. **Be sure to add the water First, as it heats up rather quickly and actually "boils" the water to create the Wrinkle Removing Steam... The Ergonomically designed Handle is easy to hold onto and the Entire Unit is so Simple To Use! For testing purposes, I took a new washed and dried Cotton Summer Dress out of my closet. It had wrinkled badly in the closet so I knew it would be a great way to test my steamer. Following the instructions, I hung the dress from my shower curtain and prepared the Fabric Steamer by filling it halfway and plugging it in. It took a minute before the water was boiling. When I saw the steam coming out of the unit, I directed the nozzle toward the dress and moved it slowly up and down the length of the fabric. Much to my surprise, the wrinkles fell right out of my dress and it looked as if it had been ironed with half the energy output! I love that I no longer have to worry about the iron scorching my clothes or rusty water dripping from the iron onto my favorite outfits even though I emptied it when I was done ironing. It's also compact in size so it stores easily in my bathroom vanity. I will never use a conventional iron again! Extremely Satisfied with this PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer! A+++ Recommendation!"

"This will not completely replace your iron but it will save you a lot of time and effort and the hassle of setting up the ironing board. I tested this on five different fabrics/items and it performed best on cotton, cotton-linen blends, sweaters and some cotton-based scarves. It did not work well on a thin 100% Rayon tunic, but that's a very easy garment for me to iron. It does not get shirts board-room crisp unless they are already no-iron shirts, but it did a pretty good job on the linen-cotton blend which was a surprise. The coarser/heavier the fabric, the better this works. I have not tried this on silk yet. And if anyone has tips for ironing Rayon, let me know! Here are a few tips for use: -Absolutely believe the directions that warn against tipping the steamer too far, otherwise you'll either get scalded fingers or feet, and don't overfill the container. Follow the directions and you'll should be fine. -Keep a container of water on hand; you will need to refill this fairly often. Just repeat this mantra: "I don't have to set up the ironing board, I don't have to set up the ironing board." -For scarves, this is genius; I have a scarf organizer that makes it easy for me to store and find my scarves, but they wrinkle more easily: this works just fine to get the wrinkles out. -Hang the garment and steam the hem then "stretch" or smooth it flat with your fingers. -After that, hold the hem and pull down on the garment, place the steamer ABOVE your hand and push the steamer upwards to the top of the garment. -For the sleeves, steam the cuff or hem, smooth it, then place your hand INSIDE the sleeve and spread your fingers to open the sleeve so it's flat, hold it up so it's nearly parallel to the floor, then steam (again, beyond your hand) perpendicular to the sleeve seam.Steaming down the length of the sleeve, I found, can steam in some longitudinal creases. -Steam the collar last. You'll probably be turning the garment from front to back and a damp collar will crimp if the garment's hanging against anything at the top. -Finally, because the garments hold some steam for short period of time, hang them separately so they don't press up against each other or else you'll create some wrinkles. And for the same reason, give the item a few minutes to dry before putting it on. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. I especially like the fact that I am steaming stitched pleat-front blouses rather than ironing them as ironing wears down the fabric on the pleats - with this steamer, the garment should last longer. Bonus: if you're traveling and stuck without a kettle this will boil water for tea. Who knew?"

"I have always been intrigued by portable steamers but never had a chance to use one till now. I really like this PureSteam Portable Fabric Steamer. The steamer came in a nice small box which made me wonder whether this would work at all. Once I put it to test, there was no doubt in my mind! This steamer is wonderful. Let's talk about the features. First of all, it has a compact design that makes it easy to store and travel. Secondly it includes an auto shut-off safety protection if the unit gets too hot or too low on water, which is great because I don't need to constantly keep checking on the water level. The 8 foot built-in 2-prong cable is long enough that removes the need for an extension cord. This steamer heats up quickly to emit wrinkle-busting steam and the nozzle is designed in such a way that distributes steam powerfully and consistently to get rid of stubborn wrinkles. Now, the performance. This steamer can be used on clothing, drapery, furniture upholstery, bedding and table linens. I used it on my curtains which are always a pain to iron. I have attached some pictures for reference. The steamer was ready in no time and was very easy to use. I was worried about water leaking but nothing of that sort happened. I barely needed to place it on an angle. I just moved my hand at a steady pace and it went on to work smoothly. I could see the results immediately. Also, since this steamer is meant to be used in an upright position, it worked perfectly on my curtains. I didn't try it on shirts yet but from what I see, I think this would be perfect for curtains/drapes, light weight tops etc. I don't think this steamer would replace the iron completely but it definitely has its own place. I love it and would definitely recommend it. Note: I received a discount to buy this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased review."

"Let me start my saying- I hate ironing, and I'm terrible at it. For that reason, I usually either pay for dry cleaning or let things be wrinkly. I decided to try this steamer, not confident that it would be great, but hey, worth a shot. I had my doubts, but it is so great. It is very easy to fill with water and lock securely, and it heats up fast. I had never steamed before so I was a little confused at first, but I figured it out within a minute or two. My husband and I spent close to 30 minutes ironing wrinkly clothes we had just because we could finally use something easier than an iron. It excites me that he will be able to de-wrinkle his clothes when I'm not around by using this. Even clothes that seemed to be permanently wrinkled were better after using this. My only critique is that I wish that the full tank lasted longer than ten minutes. Of course, if you're using this on-the-go and just trying to de-wrinkle one shirt, this is perfect. For someone like me, who works on a couple of shirts at once, it is a little frustrating to have to refill every ten minutes... but I can't complain because it is still 20x better than ironing! EDIT: I've had this steamer for months now and still enjoy it. I've learned over time that the tank doesn't quite last ten minutes. If you REALLY want to steam multiple items well, you will probably have to fill up at least once. You can easily unscrew the top and the second tank of water reheats almost immediately, though. Overall, I'd still buy this product- especially if you're looking for something truly on-the-go. My favorite part about having this steamer is that I can steam that one shirt that always comes out of the dryer with wrinkles without having to warm up an iron. Overall, you should buy this product. It's simple to use and quick."

"I received this Portable Steamer at a discounted rate to test it out and leave a honest and unbiased review. FIRST: read your manual. This item is not a toy and could hurt you if you don't read and pay attention. 2nd: Do not leave it unattended with animals and small children around. This product is great in my opinion. After reading my manual so I could get to know my steamer, I filled it up with room temperature distilled water and turned on the power. Be careful not to over fill it and keep hands away from the steam spouts. This steamer heats up really fast! I mean like 60 seconds fast. Only hold upright and don't tip it to avoid accidents. There are 5 steam spouts coming from this unit. I love how the lid has a dot to show where the spot is to open and close so I know exactly where to line it up at. The lid fits very nicely into the pot too. There is a see thru window on the steamer showing a maximum fill line - be sure NOT to over fill this. I only had a few curtains to do at moment, so I only half filled mine. I would empty the water out after it is cooled before storing unit when not in use. Do not touch the unit near the steam spouts until positive it is cooled down and unplugged. Always practice safety first! I tested this steamer out on my curtains. On nice spring days, I like to open the windows in which I have to tie my curtains back. When I untie them, the curtains are wrinkled all over! I used this steamer on the wrinkles and was surprised how fast and easy it was to make them look great again. I did this without even taking the curtains down! The curtains look fantastic, like I just ironed them. I also love the fact that the steam is a form of sanitizing too! NOTE* according to directions, I left my curtains in an upright hanging state as you can't use the steamer on things laying them down. Also I used my other hand to hold bottom of curtain outwards, so I didn't worry about melting any window parts - being careful to keep the steamer away from my hand too! All in all this is an awesome unit and will be most handy for curtains in my house. It will work great on clothes too, but I am amazed with what it did for my curtains! For the price, you can't go wrong!"
