" This sharpener, I believe, is made specifically for the Prismacolor colored pencils, so it really delivers: pigment sticks ("leads") don't break, wood is not chewed up, pencils are sharpened EVENLY all around, with minimal waste for maximum point.""Another good tip you may want to know about is that instead of rotating your pencil to sharpen it, hold the pencil firmly in the sharpener and rotate the sharpener instead."
"I initially blamed it on the pencils, figuring that "you get what you pay for" or that someone at the store dropped them, resulting in all the leads to break."
"Another reviewer mentioned all the tips breaking off, but I've only had this happen once, when I sharpened just a bit too far."
"I would say that this is the pencil quality and not the sharpener BUT we've sharpened several other brands and types of pencils as well only to have the same happen."
"I usually don't like manual pencil sharpeners because it's usually constant work to get it sharpened nicely, without breaking a tip."
"Although this sharpener is not meant for my cheap crayolas, it works really fine with them."

"Sure, I use the standard brass Made-in-Germany two-size sharpeners when I have a place for the shavings to drop, but for a kid, you want a sharpener with a built-in receptacle for the shavings... ) This sharpener, I believe, is made specifically for the Prismacolor colored pencils, so it really delivers: pigment sticks ("leads") don't break, wood is not chewed up, pencils are sharpened EVENLY all around, with minimal waste for maximum point. The receptacle is on the small side, which is good for smaller hands, but you have to empty it after sharpening about 10 pencils.""It doesn't even take long to sharpen a pencil to a fine point and I haven't had any issues with breakage. Another good tip you may want to know about is that instead of rotating your pencil to sharpen it, hold the pencil firmly in the sharpener and rotate the sharpener instead... I highly recommend this sharpener being that it's the best manual sharpener you can get for the price."
"I ruined a good number of (thankfully cheap) colored pencils because the leads break virtually every time you try to sharpen. Then you have to dig the broken tip out of the sharpener and start over, only to have it happen again... I initially blamed it on the pencils, figuring that "you get what you pay for" or that someone at the store dropped them, resulting in all the leads to break."
"I was trying to use my kids' pencil sharpeners from their school supplies and they just weren't working at all. This sharpener fits all that brands that I bought (Prismacolor, Staedtler, Crayola) and it works great!! Another reviewer mentioned all the tips breaking off, but I've only had this happen once, when I sharpened just a bit too far."
"Almost every time I attempt to sharpen a pencil with it the lead breaks off... I would say that this is the pencil quality and not the sharpener BUT we've sharpened several other brands and types of pencils as well only to have the same happen... The sharpener that comes with my eyeliner has actually worked better than this one."
"I recently bought some Scholar Prismacolor colored pencils, and upon the rave reviews, I bought this sharpener... I usually don't like manual pencil sharpeners because it's usually constant work to get it sharpened nicely, without breaking a tip... So if your getting some Prismacolor colored pencils, I would recommend getting this sharpener too."
"My cheap pencils never went broken again as they always do with the other pencil shapener... Although this sharpener is not meant for my cheap crayolas, it works really fine with them. I can imagine how great it would be if I use it to sharp Prismacolor pencils."

"" If you knew how many different kinds of pencil sharpeners we've tried, you would know that this is high praise indeed... We don't even bother with Crayola or similar anymore because we can't stand the breaking "leads", waxy-pale colors, and uneven blending. So you can imagine that we are also rather particular about what we sharpen our colored pencils with. Sure, I use the standard brass Made-in-Germany two-size sharpeners when I have a place for the shavings to drop, but for a kid, you want a sharpener with a built-in receptacle for the shavings... ) This sharpener, I believe, is made specifically for the Prismacolor colored pencils, so it really delivers: pigment sticks ("leads") don't break, wood is not chewed up, pencils are sharpened EVENLY all around, with minimal waste for maximum point. The receptacle is on the small side, which is good for smaller hands, but you have to empty it after sharpening about 10 pencils... As always, your mileage may vary, and I didn't get a free sharpener in exchange for my honest review.""I recently bought a Prismacolor pencil sharpener from Amazon and was initially a bit worried if I overpaid for a manual sharpener. Afterall, the description for this product says it's a "colored pencil sharpener" which is somewhat absurd being that any sharpener should be able to sharpen a colored pencil... I was expecting something possibly 4-6 inches, but this sharpener is really small; barely over 2 inches if that... I actually bought some Mirado black warriors, an art kit with HB pencils and such and my art kit came with a terrible little sharpener... It doesn't even take long to sharpen a pencil to a fine point and I haven't had any issues with breakage. Another good tip you may want to know about is that instead of rotating your pencil to sharpen it, hold the pencil firmly in the sharpener and rotate the sharpener instead... I highly recommend this sharpener being that it's the best manual sharpener you can get for the price."
"Don't waste your money on this. I ruined a good number of (thankfully cheap) colored pencils because the leads break virtually every time you try to sharpen. Then you have to dig the broken tip out of the sharpener and start over, only to have it happen again. You're lucky if you get a usable tip before your pencil reaches the point of being too short to be used. I initially blamed it on the pencils, figuring that "you get what you pay for" or that someone at the store dropped them, resulting in all the leads to break... Haven't had a problem with breaking leads since, regardless of the price or quality of the pencils... I don't usually pay much attention to reviews, but I should have read them in this case before purchasing."
"I just recently got into 'adult' coloring book, so I bought several brands of colored pencils. I was trying to use my kids' pencil sharpeners from their school supplies and they just weren't working at all. This sharpener fits all that brands that I bought (Prismacolor, Staedtler, Crayola) and it works great!! Another reviewer mentioned all the tips breaking off, but I've only had this happen once, when I sharpened just a bit too far. This is working perfectly for me, and it is so easy to clean... UPDATE: After having this a few weeks, I'm ordering another one so the kids and I don't have to fight over it. They no longer want to use the old ones in their school supplies after using this one!"
"I recently bought some Scholar Prismacolor colored pencils, and upon the rave reviews, I bought this sharpener. The price isn't bad so I figured why not... I usually don't like manual pencil sharpeners because it's usually constant work to get it sharpened nicely, without breaking a tip... It sharpens the pencils nicely because the blade is specifically made for these types of pencils. Since the tips don't break easily, your not constantly sharpening your pencils over and over. So if your getting some Prismacolor colored pencils, I would recommend getting this sharpener too. It works well on other brands, so it's a good buy!!"
"This is my best color pencil sharpener ever!... I love this neon green color and also the design... My cheap pencils never went broken again as they always do with the other pencil shapener. I can get the sharpness as I wished... Although this sharpener is not meant for my cheap crayolas, it works really fine with them. I can imagine how great it would be if I use it to sharp Prismacolor pencils... I didn't experience any lead broke as the other reviews did."
