"I found that it's not as easy to have my iPhone held in portrait mode on all three legs due to the weight of the device because there is just not enough counterbalance with the three short legs to hold it up (as in landscape mode).""While the highly-articulated legs are great and give you possibilities limited only by your imagination, possibly the best feature is that the mounting screw is the standard size found on all tripods, meaning that you can take just the phone-holding bracket and attach it to any standard tripod, not just the gorillapod."
"One last piece- the actually part that holds the phone can unscrew from the rest of the stand, and I'm pretty sure it would screw onto a traditional tripod, making it even more versatile."
"I also like the touch with the rubberized phone clamp that keeps a good grip on your phone, while not scratching your case."
"The top portion that grips the cell phone attaches to the rest of the tripod with a universal 1/4" screw, which allows you to remove the GripTight portion and attach a point-and-shoot camera instead."
"I got this so that I could run timelapses on my phone and even though I already had a gorilla pod and just wanted the attachment, I got the full kit because it was only $5 more to get the whole new gorilla pod base."
"1 inches minimum) I guess it would cost a billion fifillion dollars to make it 3 inches exactly and then they would have to sell the thing for $2000 to make some profit, yes I'm making fun of how overpriced this tiny thing is but after all it has the word iphone attached to it so it's ok since apple drones will buy it at any price."

"I found that it's not as easy to have my iPhone held in portrait mode on all three legs due to the weight of the device because there is just not enough counterbalance with the three short legs to hold it up (as in landscape mode)... You can get the phone to "hang" nicely in portrait mode using a tree limb, railing, or something similar (as shown in their photo ad) to wrap the Joby legs around. As for the size, I was initially surprised by how small it was although I didn't really have any set expectations but I got used to the size and I actually like it now because it makes it more portable for me.""The bracket that holds the phone has spring-loaded arms that hold the phone securely and can be folded down for easy transport - even on a keyring, if so desired. While the highly-articulated legs are great and give you possibilities limited only by your imagination, possibly the best feature is that the mounting screw is the standard size found on all tripods, meaning that you can take just the phone-holding bracket and attach it to any standard tripod, not just the gorillapod. The only down-side is that my wife, the shutter-bug, is eying up stealing it to use with her phone so she doesn't have to haul the DSLR around!"
"But using it as a hand-held camera, even when the cameraperson thinks they are holding it incredibly still, makes for a shaky and hard-to-watch video... Most of all though, because it's a universal mount for smartphones and other devices, you don't have to get a new one when changing or upgrading devices... One last piece- the actually part that holds the phone can unscrew from the rest of the stand, and I'm pretty sure it would screw onto a traditional tripod, making it even more versatile."
"I got this primarily because I wanted to be able to mount my phone in my car so I could record driving videos... I also like the touch with the rubberized phone clamp that keeps a good grip on your phone, while not scratching your case... What I didn't like was the fact that there's no easy way to rotate your phone from landscape to portrait or vice-versa."
"(Review written by my girlfriend, who received the tripod) This tripod is absolutely wonderful to use for small cameras or any cell phone... The top portion that grips the cell phone attaches to the rest of the tripod with a universal 1/4" screw, which allows you to remove the GripTight portion and attach a point-and-shoot camera instead... Note: It also makes a great phone mount from the rearview mirror if you use your phone as a GPS device while driving."
"I got this so that I could run timelapses on my phone and even though I already had a gorilla pod and just wanted the attachment, I got the full kit because it was only $5 more to get the whole new gorilla pod base... If you don't already have a gorilla pod, this is a good buy, however, the stand that comes with this is not the same as the original gorilla pod... The top part is perfect for holding my phone."
"The description of the gorillapod should include the dimensions, maybe they are there but I didn't read them, someone could have scanned the picture from the manual where it shows the max expansion of the holders or whatever they're called. Here are the dimensions, the legs are 5 inches each so they can be wrapped neatly around a branch of bonsai tree and the expansion the holder thingy is 2... 1 inches minimum) I guess it would cost a billion fifillion dollars to make it 3 inches exactly and then they would have to sell the thing for $2000 to make some profit, yes I'm making fun of how overpriced this tiny thing is but after all it has the word iphone attached to it so it's ok since apple drones will buy it at any price."

"I have been using the Joby GripTight GorillaPod stand for about two weeks now on a daily basis and it works quite well for me... I use it mostly to hold my iPhone 6 (which has a thin clear case protector) to watch Vimeo, YouTube, Netflix, and other live streaming broadcasts such as Periscope so I'm not constantly fidgeting with it... I found that it's not as easy to have my iPhone held in portrait mode on all three legs due to the weight of the device because there is just not enough counterbalance with the three short legs to hold it up (as in landscape mode)... You can get the phone to "hang" nicely in portrait mode using a tree limb, railing, or something similar (as shown in their photo ad) to wrap the Joby legs around. As for the size, I was initially surprised by how small it was although I didn't really have any set expectations but I got used to the size and I actually like it now because it makes it more portable for me... The plastic and rubber legs do grip well around the metal railings I used and won't slide down, but the screw piece which attaches to the top section is not very good... Also, I didn't want to over-tighten the screw lest I bust or crack the base (perhaps this is unfounded) so I rarely use the stand to hold my phone in a portrait mode as they show in the picture.""I was looking for a tripod mount to use with my phone when I stumbled across this gem... Each segment is attached with a ball-joint to the next segment, giving the legs quite a lot flexibility. They can be wrapped around stuff, or just re-shaped to suit the surface on which you place it... The bracket that holds the phone has spring-loaded arms that hold the phone securely and can be folded down for easy transport - even on a keyring, if so desired. While the highly-articulated legs are great and give you possibilities limited only by your imagination, possibly the best feature is that the mounting screw is the standard size found on all tripods, meaning that you can take just the phone-holding bracket and attach it to any standard tripod, not just the gorillapod. The only down-side is that my wife, the shutter-bug, is eying up stealing it to use with her phone so she doesn't have to haul the DSLR around! (Yes, her phone takes better pictures than our old DSLR - technology these days!"
"" With the high-quality technology available to consumers, all that is required to have a high-quality tape is a smartphone... But using it as a hand-held camera, even when the cameraperson thinks they are holding it incredibly still, makes for a shaky and hard-to-watch video... The legs are completely adjustable, making it easy to use on any surface. Furthermore, the way the legs bend make it easy to attach to all kinds of devices, and even allows for hanging the tripod. Most of all though, because it's a universal mount for smartphones and other devices, you don't have to get a new one when changing or upgrading devices... One last piece- the actually part that holds the phone can unscrew from the rest of the stand, and I'm pretty sure it would screw onto a traditional tripod, making it even more versatile. All in all, this product is a must-have for me and for anyone who uses their smartphone for videotaping."
"I got this primarily because I wanted to be able to mount my phone in my car so I could record driving videos. The joints are very sturdy and stay where you pose them. I also like the touch with the rubberized phone clamp that keeps a good grip on your phone, while not scratching your case. It's also fairly easy to put in or take out your camera-phone from the clamp. What I didn't like was the fact that there's no easy way to rotate your phone from landscape to portrait or vice-versa... And because the clamp is fixed you can't turn your camera-phone easily. Sure you could loosen the mounting screw, but then the clamp itself is subject to vibration and movement if you're taking videos."
"(Review written by my girlfriend, who received the tripod) This tripod is absolutely wonderful to use for small cameras or any cell phone. It can hold onto cell phones whose width is 2... 2 cm) with or without a case, just as long as the total width doesn't exceed 2... The top portion that grips the cell phone attaches to the rest of the tripod with a universal 1/4" screw, which allows you to remove the GripTight portion and attach a point-and-shoot camera instead. You really can position it in just about any position you can imagine... It's inexpensive, durable, and you'll almost certainly find dozens of ways to use it. Note: It also makes a great phone mount from the rearview mirror if you use your phone as a GPS device while driving."
"First of all I'd like to say that I think the actual attachment to this is overpriced. I got this so that I could run timelapses on my phone and even though I already had a gorilla pod and just wanted the attachment, I got the full kit because it was only $5 more to get the whole new gorilla pod base... If you don't already have a gorilla pod, this is a good buy, however, the stand that comes with this is not the same as the original gorilla pod... It still works but it's lighter, thinner, and doesn't seem as durable. The top part is perfect for holding my phone. Even with a fairly large case, it still holds it perfectly... I would recommend this product, just not at the $25 price."
